The LSU Foundation is seeking a mission-driven, experienced professional with exceptional fundraising abilities to serve as its Director of Development. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the director will join a dynamic cohort of development professionals supporting the College of Humanities and Social Science, the College of Music and Dramatic Arts and the LSU Press. Together, these three units are known as the Magnolia Cohort.

Overview: The LSU Foundation is seeking a mission-driven, experienced professional with exceptional fundraising abilities to serve as its Director of Development. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the director will join a dynamic cohort of development professionals supporting the College of Humanities and Social Science, the College of Music and Dramatic Arts and the LSU Press. &nbsp;Together, they will cultivate and solicit prospective donors with the potential to contribute major gifts aimed at meeting the strategic goals of the colleges, university, and Foundation.
Responsibilities: <p><strong>Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Maintains a portfolio of major gift prospects and ensures the dean is engaged with high level donors, prospective donors, and volunteers</li> <li>Works with the Advancement Services staff to track and plan identification of, cultivation of, and contact with donor prospects</li> <li>Works with department chairs and faculty as well as the colleges&rsquo; advisory boards on all philanthropic endeavors</li> <li>Engages volunteers and alumni regarding special projects and collaborative partnerships</li> <li>Assists in the communication and coordination of activities with fundraising agencies, including the LSU Foundation, LSU Alumni Association, Tiger Athletic Foundation offices, and outside parties</li> <li>Works collaboratively with colleagues across campus</li> </ul> <p><strong>Marginal Duties &amp; Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Attends events or meetings with volunteers and staff as needed</li> <li>Performs other duties as assigned</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree from an accredited college or university and at least five years' experience of major gift work or nonprofit fundraising</li> <li>A proven track record of soliciting and securing major gifts</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills</li> <li>Strong verbal and written communication skills</li> <li>The ability to be independent and a self-starter</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Knowledge &amp; Skill Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with electronic university advancement databases</li> <li>Experience working with an advisory board and volunteers</li> <li>Experience working in a university environment</li> </ul> <p><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>None</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work Environment Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability and willingness to travel and occasionally work evenings and weekends.</li> </ul>
