Senior Director

Overview: <p>The LSU Foundation, in conjunction with the College of Engineering, is seeking a mission-driven, experienced professional with exceptional fundraising abilities to serve as Senior Director of Development. Reporting jointly to the Dean of the college and Assistant Vice President of Development at the LSU Foundation, the Senior Director will build and manage a dynamic team of development professionals and cultivate and solicit prospect donors with the potential to contribute principal and major gifts aimed at meeting the strategic goals of the college, university, and Foundation.</p> <p>For the motivated development professional, the College of Engineering offers an unparalleled experience. The college&rsquo;s leadership fosters and mentors talented individuals with a thirst for excellence and a desire to unite donor passion and philanthropic intent with college priorities.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Manages the overall strategic vision of the development office</li> <li>Maintains a portfolio of major gift prospects and ensures the dean is engaged with high-level donors, prospective donors, and volunteers</li> <li>Coordinates development activities and strategies with prospect management, research, communications, and donor relations</li> <li>Oversees the management and recordkeeping of the college's fundraising effort, including campaign planning and financial reporting</li> <li>Manages and supervises the development team</li> <li>Assists in the communication and coordination of activities with fundraising agencies, including the LSU Foundation, LSU Alumni Association, Tiger Athletic Foundation offices, and outside parties</li> <li>Advise, guide, prepare, and debrief academic and volunteer leaders in carrying out their development responsibilities</li> <li>Works collaboratively with colleagues across campus</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and at least seven years of experience in major gift work or nonprofit fundraising</li> <li>A proven track record of securing major gifts and meeting fundraising goals</li> <li>Exemplary interpersonal skills with a sensitivity to high-net worth audiences</li> <li>Impeccable writing, presentation skills, and use of communications and data technologies</li> <li>An appreciation for and understanding of diverse audiences and communities</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Knowledge &amp; Skill Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Exceptional written and oral communication skills</li> <li>The ability to self-motivate and work independently</li> <li>Attentiveness to detail</li> <li>Sensitivity to the needs of diverse constituencies</li> <li>A team player with a goal-oriented approach to work</li> <li>Strong organizational and time management skills</li> <li>The ability to represent the organization in a professional, positive manner</li> <li>The ability to develop creative solutions</li> </ul> <p><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage team of development professionals supporting the College of Engineering</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work Environment Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>May be required to travel and/or work extended workdays, evenings or weekends</li> </ul>
