Assistant Director

Overview: The Assistant Director of Development Services offers administrative support to the frontline development team members in the Colleges of Science, Art and Design and the Manship School of Mass Communication with an emphasis on administrative and development focused tasks.
Responsibilities: <p><u>Development Support to team in Science, Art and Design and Manship School of Mass Communication&nbsp;</u></p> <ul> <li>Performs administrative duties such as managing the calendar and activities of the directors, preparation of expense reports, mailings, travel arrangements, meeting set up, new agreement paperwork, and account forms, ordering supplies, call reports, and task entries for the team</li> <li>Provides support to the senior director and other development professionals providing scheduled giving reports, which are extracted from the database Advance, and ensuring that all reports produced are kept up to date</li> <li>Coordinates team meetings and facilitates the senior director&rsquo;s management of those meetings</li> <li>Supports the advancement efforts of the units by ensuring that graduate assistants and student workers are trained on Advance, LexisNexis Development Professionals, and Wealth Engine</li> <li>Submits requests on behalf of development staff to the Advancement Services team, such as research requests and biographical updates (contact information, employment, marital, birthdays, student activities, etc.)&nbsp;</li> <li>Utilizes the donor database effectively to document cultivation and stewardship strategy with donors by entering contact reports for the team</li> <li>Provides gift reports and other development updates to department heads in academic units as instructed by the Senior Director</li> <li>Collaborates with directors on prospect management strategies and long-term travel planning to synthesize prospect and pre-prospect pools with planned solicitations</li> <li>Coordinates the day-to-day development-based activities for the units</li> <li>Handles the coordination, and distribution of appointment lists, proposals, etc.</li> <li>Works in coordination with development officers on events and mailings</li> <li>Maintains quality control of development materials for the units&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><u>Donor Relations Support&nbsp;</u></p> <ul> <li>Manages stewardship processes, including contacting students, creating and sending scholarship recipient profiles and students&rsquo; thank-you notes to donors and stewardees</li> <li>Monitors scholarship compliance</li> <li>Develops special impact reports for high-level stewardship and annual reports for multi-year gifts</li> <li>Organize all details related to meetings of units&rsquo; advisory boards and development task forces</li> <li>Manages special-project fundraising with solicitations and follow up</li> <li>Serves as team lead for Special Events held within College of Art and Design and Manship School of Mass Communication&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Marginal Duties &amp; Responsibilities</span></p> <ul> <li>Serves on appropriate LSU Foundation committees that advance the development efforts of the units and the university</li> <li>Addresses special projects and functions as assigned by senior director</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree from an accredited college or university</li> <li>At least two years of work experience in an administrative capacity</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Knowledge &amp; Skill Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience in research, development in a higher education environment</li> </ul> <p><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>None</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work Environment Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>May be required to occasionally work extended workdays, evenings or weekends</li> </ul>
