Overview: <p>This director will serve the LSU Museum of Art, LSU Press, and Rural Life Museum under the oversight of the LSU Foundation Pelican Cohort Lead. This position will be working closely with the executive directors of LSU MOA, LSU Press, and RLM.</p> <p>This Director of Development will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospective donors with the potential to contribute major gifts (and/or sponsor exhibitions and events) to the LSU Museum of Art, LSU Press and The Southern Review, and the Rural Life Museum. They will seek out, write, and manage grants for the benefit of the three units. The successful candidate will work closely as a team player with the directors of the three units as well as with the LSU Foundation.</p>
Responsibilities: <p><u>45 % | Fundraising</u></p> <p>Coordinate with the three directors and the LSU Foundation&rsquo;s staff to increase major and deferred gift planning opportunities. Develop strategies to increase fundraising from both individuals and corporations through major and deferred gifts, annual gifts, exhibition and education sponsorships, and events.&nbsp;</p> <p><u>30 % | Strategy</u></p> <p>Manage the overall strategic vision for fundraising and development of each unit. Work with the three directors and the LSU Foundation to establish development and fundraising goals for each unit. Ensure goals are being met.&nbsp;</p> <p><u>15 % | Database Management</u></p> <p>Utilize the Foundation&rsquo;s donor database to document progress with donors. Communicate progress to the three directors, and communicate the needs of the three units to the Foundation.</p> <p><u>10 % | Grants Management</u></p> <p>Working in collaboration with appropriate staff, analyze and research grant-making opportunities, evaluate them for funding potential, develop a detailed annual calendar with grant deadlines and activities, and write and submit proposals</p> <p><strong>Non-essential/marginal position responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Serve on committees</li> <li>Assist with major unit-related alumni or development events</li> <li>Attend relevant seminars or trainings</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>Required level/type of experience&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Strong arts and humanities background.
