Analyst

Overview: <p>The Business Analyst works on the Advancement Services team and uses advanced business analysis concepts and a comprehensive knowledge of fundraising management principles to resolve highly complex operational issues and meet the philanthropic objectives of the LSU Foundation. The position is the link between the technical team and system users, translating user needs to the technical team and technical opportunities to end users, maximizing the utility of our systems.&nbsp;</p>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Understand and applies business requirements, rules, and best practices to new and existing processes with the objective of recommending and developing necessary adjustments/solutions that improve efficiency and accuracy.&nbsp;</li> <li>Gathers, analyzes, and documents business and user needs in a centralized documentation repository, with a focus on ensuring that technology is an effective tool for helping users in their daily work.&nbsp;</li> <li>Acts as a control in the change management process of Advance and other systems. Evaluates system changes and consults with business owners to approve, document, and communicate system changes.&nbsp;</li> <li>Triage, facilitate and manage incoming tickets and projects within JIRA software.</li> <li>Updates and maintains documentation on process improvements and process performance in a centralized documentation repository.</li> <li>Review existing reports, make change recommendations to update current reports based on request, and &nbsp;design (mock) and write specification for new reports and related analytics to support internal operations and programmatic data needs.</li> <li>Understands the Advance TMS table structure. Maintain the mapping of the TMS values and business rules. Responsible for data integrity issues as it relates to the tables.&nbsp;</li> <li>Plans, executes, and documents all levels of testing (unit, system, user acceptance, volume).</li> <li>Prepares communication plans regarding process reengineering for multiple stakeholders.</li> <li>Leads cross-functional teams to resolve complex business or system issues including working with the business process team on requirements gathering, process mapping, understanding and communicating technical limitations and possibilities, etc. &nbsp;</li> <li>Work with system consultants to create documentation, conduct user testing, and provide other general support for the successful completion of assigned projects.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Marginal Duties &amp; Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Understand technical systems and processes employed by the IS Staff</li> <li>Complete other projects/reports as requested</li> <li>Contributes to team objectives by accomplishing other IS tasks as needed.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <div class="job-listing-header"><strong>Requirements</strong></div> <div data-bind="html: Job.Requirements"> <ul> <li>Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university</li> <li>At least two years of experience with systems development and implementation</li> <li>Experience in nonprofit fundraising operations (specifically prospect research, prospect management, gift processing, membership, biographical records management, individual giving, corporate and foundation relations, campaign management, online giving, and annual giving), data management and reporting</li> <li>Knowledge of SQL</li> <li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work with technical and nontechnical staff</li> <li>Experience leading work groups</li> <li>Ability to think critically</li> <li>Possess attention to detail</li> <li>Strong Microsoft Office skills</li> <li>Demonstrated application of the system development life cycle and quality assurance</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple deadlines and completing priorities</li> <li>Superior organization skills</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Knowledge &amp; Skill Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with web-based university advancement databases, e.g. ADVANCE&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>None</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work Environment Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>May be required to occasionally work extended workdays, evenings or weekends</li> </ul> </div>
