Working in collaboration with the dean of the Ogden Honors College and the Associate Vice President for Development for the LSU Foundation, the senior director will build and manage a growing team of development professionals that will support the Manship School of Mass Communication, College of Art and Design, and the Ogden Honors College.

Overview: The LSU Foundation is seeking a mission-driven, experienced professional with exceptional fundraising abilities to serve as its Senior Director of Development. Working primarily in collaboration with the dean of the Ogden Honors College and the Associate Vice President for Development for the LSU Foundation, the senior director will build and manage a growing team of development professionals that will support the Manship School of Mass Communication, College of Art and Design, and the Ogden Honors College. &nbsp;They will cultivate and solicit prospective donors with the potential to contribute major gifts aimed at meeting the strategic goals of the college, university, and Foundation.<br /><br />The LSU Foundation's vision is to catalyze transformational philanthropic support for LSU. The LSU Foundation will realize this vision through its mission to cultivate and invest in philanthropic partnerships to advance LSU's academic priorities.
Responsibilities: <u>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</u> <ul> <li>Manages the overall strategic vision of the development office; manages and coaches development officers toward strategic major gift activity</li> <li>Maintains a portfolio of major gift prospects and ensures the dean(s) is engaged with high-level donors, prospective donors, and volunteers</li> <li>Works with the Advancement Services staff to track and plan identification of, cultivation of, and contact with donor prospects</li> <li>Collaborates with the Corporate and Foundation Relations office</li> <li>Assists with the management and recordkeeping of the college&rsquo;s fundraising effort, including campaign planning and financial reporting</li> <li>Assists in the communication and coordination of activities with fundraising agencies, including the LSU Foundation, LSU Alumni Association, Tiger Athletic Foundation offices, and outside parties</li> </ul> <br /><u>Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:</u> <ul> <li>Attends events or meetings with volunteers and staff as needed</li> <li>Performs other duties as assigned</li> </ul>
Requirements: <u>Required Knowledge and Skill Qualifications:</u> <ul> <li>Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university</li> <li>At least five years&rsquo; experience of major gift work or nonprofit fundraising</li> <li>Proven track record of identifying, cultivations, soliciting and closing high level gifts from individuals.&nbsp;</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal, administrative and organizational skills</li> <li>Ability to be independent and a self-starter</li> <li>Strong verbal and written communication skills</li> </ul> <br /><u>Preferred Knowledge and Skill Qualifications:</u> <ul> <li>Significant managerial experience</li> <li>Proven track record of soliciting and securing major gifts of $100K and greater</li> <li>Familiarity with electronic university advancement databases</li> <li>Ability to collaborate with an academic dean or executive director to achieve fundraising goals</li> <li>Experience working with an advisory board and volunteers</li> <li>Experience working in a university environment</li> </ul> <br /><u>Work Environment Requirements:</u> <ul> <li>May be required to occasionally work extended workdays, evenings, or weekends</li> </ul>
