Overview: The Director of Shared Services is responsible for the oversight of the Accounts Payable, Payroll and ERP Security and Compliance. This leader ensures the departments they oversee deliver a high level of service to their internal and external customers and partners with business leads to effectively align their departments with organizational strategies. These departments administer the payment of accounts payable, manage the corporate credit card program, ensure accurate payments of employee pay and associated payroll taxes in compliance with corporate policies, procedures and governmental payroll rules and regulations. This position manages, hires, trains and motivates staff. Maintains strong internal controls and proper documentation for adherence to SOX and audit requirements.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Leads efforts to implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of the department's efforts.</li> <li>Ensures team development activities including training and developing employees, and coaching for results, with the goal of continually enhancing talent to support LZB initiatives.</li> <li>Maintains department and company procedures as applicable and communicates with other impacted areas of the organization (Accounting, Human Resources, Tax).</li> <li>Maintains internal controls including documentation narratives, key controls for SOX, and revisions to policies and procedures.</li> <li>Leads team in improving processes and methods to balance vendor discounts and/or rebates, days payable outstanding, labor and technology costs.</li> <li>Leads team that oversees La-Z-Boy's travel and expense reporting, corporate travel credit cards, procurement card program and corporate card payables program.</li> <li>Partners with Tax department to ensure all tax payments are paid timely avoiding IRS penalties and interest.</li> <li>Ensures processing of 1099, 1042S and T4 reports are completed timely and in compliance with applicable laws.</li> <li>Partners with Supply Chain Management, Corporate Accounting, and other departments as appropriate to meet vendor payment requirements, maximize company cash flow, and ensure payables are accounted for appropriately.</li> <li>Prepares, maintains and updates fiscal year budget including forecast changes for the departments.</li> <li>Plans and manages integration of new acquisitions or other business units not currently centrally processed into the current process and systems.</li> <li>Oversees payroll team through the processing of payroll which includes the GL closing process, special payments and deductions.</li> <li>Ensures accurate and timely preparation of payroll tax reporting, such as 941's, 940's and W2s.</li> <li>Oversees the implementation, testing, and ongoing maintenance of IT system enhancements and conversions for applicable La-Z-Boy&rsquo;s systems.</li> <li>Assures payroll systems and processes are updated to reflect relevant tax withholding requirements for federal and state legislative requirements, as well as for benefits and taxes.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><strong>SCOPE &amp; IMPACT:</strong><br />This position oversees departments which coordinate payroll for over 6,000 employees on behalf of retail stores, corporate headquarters, six distribution centers, and four manufacturing locations and approximately 12,000 vendor payments and employee expense reports per month for the La-Z-Boy wholesale, Retail, Casegoods and Joybird business units. Additionally, department is responsible for the correct payroll tax payments and filings for four (4) EINs within the company&rsquo;s structure, covering 31+ states, 100+ locals for tax payments in excess of $75M per fiscal year.
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Accounting/Finance with 10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent</li> <li>Five or more years Supervisory/Leadership Experience.</li> <li>Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.</li> <li>Extensive knowledge of Accounts Payable and Payroll processes and best practices, including the latest technology, policies, and procedures.</li> </ul> <br /><strong>PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Experience with Payroll and Accounts Payable systems including Concur, Kronos, Workday, or others.</li> <li>Certification in Accounts Payable and/or (CPP) Certified Payroll Professional</li> </ul> <br /><strong>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong>&nbsp;Direct supervision of three managers overseeing a team of approximately 20.<br /><br /><strong>PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:</strong><br />Office environment / no specific or unusual or environmental demands.<br /><br /><strong>CORE ATTRIBUTES:</strong><br />Communicate Transparently<br />Lead the Team<br />Impact and Influence<br />Deliver Results<br />Coach and Develop
