Overview: Maintain, operate, and administer servers and applications, mainly in a Windows Server environment. Monitor the performance of servers, software, and hardware in those environments, as well as perform upgrades, application patches, and deployments. Maintain/create operational documentation and architecture diagrams on systems assigned to the role.<br/><br/>
Responsibilities: <UL><LI>Provide production support for customers and peers on multiple systems supporting La-Z-Boy, mainly on a variety of windows platforms. This would include following departmental controls and processes and documenting through Incidents in the IT support system.</LI><LI>Monitors queue for incoming Production support incidents. This position will take ownership of incidents, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents. May require contacting customers and peers within other areas of IT throughout the process. Works with other team members to balance the load of incoming incidents. Takes after hours & weekend support calls from customers. This position handles mid-level issues of moderate complexity or impact.</LI><LI>Participate in the planning and execution of maintenance processes for La-Z-Boy systems.</LI><LI>Participates on IT projects and initiatives as required for Corporate or Divisions. Leads on small to mid-level infrastructure projects or initiatives. Participates on larger or more complex cross functional projects. Ensures appropriate project documentation is created based on project size and complexity. Ensures appropriate documentation is created for support, cross training, and moving systems into an operational state. Implement new/additional technologies including hardware and software, as well as any new/updated processes.</LI><LI>Complete change/service requests for customers and peers on systems. This would include following departmental controls and processes and documenting in IT support systems. This includes but is not limited to security modifications/updates, schedule changes, software development life cycle (SDLC) requests, and various other system changes. Monitors queues for incoming change requests. Takes ownership of changes tickets, review requests, contact customers with questions, coordinate with other areas in IT as required. Obtains IT management sign off and validate business approval has been completed prior to making any change. Obtains IT Director approval for any Production changes during business hours. Work with other team members to balance the load of incoming changes.</LI><LI>This position often handles mid-level changes of moderate complexity.</LI><LI>Creation of required documentation for operational and support processes. Creates work instructions for support and operational processes. Creates system diagrams (Visio) for reference and support. Creates system installation/upgrade reference documents. Creates documentation that will be stored in accordance to agreed upon department locations.</LI><LI>Ensures proper alerts and mechanisms are in place to proactively monitor the environment</LI></UL> SCOPE & IMPACT: Responsible for the support and operations of the windows environments, and to some level the applications that run on them. Some of the work required by this position is completed off hours and on weekends. System downtime impacts almost the entire company which exacerbates the pressure during incidents. Ability to perform under pressure is paramount.
Requirements: <strong>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</strong> <br /> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in CS, IS, or CIS, with 4-6 years of related experience or equivalent.</li> <li>Minimum 3-5 years of experience in designing, deploying and supporting Infrastructure solutions, and serving in an application administration/operations role with primarily a Microsoft server environment</li> <li>Proven experience and history of being in a primary support role for a Tier 1 application (Payroll, Accounting, ERP, Sales, etc.)</li> <li>Strong background in monitoring and proactive data center operations.</li> </ul> <br /><strong>PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:</strong> <br /> <ul> <li>1-2 years experience with VMWare</li> <li>Prior experience with log aggregation/monitoring tools and APM (Splunk, Logzilla, Loggly, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, etc.)</li> </ul> <br /><strong>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong> None<br /><br /><strong>PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:</strong><br />Office environment/no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands. <br /><br /><strong>CORE ATTRIBUTES:</strong><br /><br />Communicate Transparently<br /><br />Lead the Team<br /><br />Impact and Influence<br /><br />Deliver Results<br /><br />Coach and Develop<br /><br /><br /><strong>OTHER DUTIES:</strong> <br />Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the incumbent for this job.
