Overview: The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for providing administration of the Company’s Linux server environment. This includes the planning, implementing, and maintaining of a secure, robust, and scalable Linux infrastructure, capable of supporting both internal and external customers.<br/><br/>
Responsibilities: <UL><LI>Develops, implement and support Linux server solutions to address a variety of business challenges.</LI><LI>Responsible for ensuring Linux platforms exceed goals for availability, capacity, efficiency, scalability, and performance.</LI><LI>Coordinates operations and maintenance activities for Linux servers in both physical and virtual environments.</LI><LI>Monitors queue for incoming Production support incidents.</LI><LI>Assists the IT Operations Manager in the development of Linux Server Operating Procedures, following industry best practice</LI><LI>Takes ownership of incidents by troubleshooting the issue, contacting customers and peers within other areas of IT throughout the process as needed.</LI><LI>Provides off hours/weekend support as required, to address production outages, upgrades, and code deployments.</LI><LI>Completes change/service requests for customers and peers on systems. This would include following departmental controls and processes and documenting in IT support systems. This includes but is not limited to security modifications/updates, schedule changes, software development life cycle (SDLC) requests, and various other system changes.</LI><LI>Creates documentation for required operational and support processes. Creates work instructions for support and operational processes. Creates system diagrams (Visio) for reference and support. Creates system installation/upgrade reference documents. Creates documentation for retention at agreed upon department locations.</LI><LI>Ensures proper alerts and mechanisms are in place to proactively monitor the environment.</LI><LI>Assists in triaging/root cause analysis for issues that arise.</LI><LI>This position often handles mid-level changes of moderate to high complexity.</LI></UL> SCOPE & IMPACT: Responsible for the support and operations of Linux environments within La-Z-Boy. Often the work required by this position is completed off hours and on weekends. Many systems are crucial to either manufacturing or retail, so the pressure to resolve incidents quickly is consistent. Ability to perform under pressure is paramount.
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in CS, IS, or CIS, with 4-6 years of related experience or equivalent.</li> <li>3-5 years of Linux experience with RedHat based systems (to include automated OS installation, software compilation, package management, virtualization, OS lifecycle management, diagnostic and performance troubleshooting/profiling).</li> <li>Strong understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, SSL/TLS, Layer 3 and Layer 7 load balancing, etc.)</li> <li>Proven production infrastructure trouble-shooting skills that span applications, systems, storage, and network</li> </ul> PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in CS, IS, or CIS, with 4-6 years of related experience or equivalent.</li> <li>2-4 years&rsquo; experience in J2EE application servers (Tomcat, Jboss, Weblogic, etc.)</li> <li>1-2 years of basic administration of DB&rsquo;s running on Linux(Postgres, MySQL, etc.)</li> <li>Experience in containerization technology (Docker, Apache Mesos, rkt, Kubernetes, etc.)</li> <li>Scripting and/or programming (Bash, Perl, Python, Go, C, or C++.)</li> <li>Ability to mentor others and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment</li> </ul> <strong>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong> None<br /><br /><strong>PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:</strong><br />Office environment/no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands. <br /><br /><strong>CORE ATTRIBUTES:</strong><br /><br />Communicate Transparently<br /><br />Lead the Team<br /><br />Impact and Influence<br /><br />Deliver Results<br /><br />Coach and Develop<br /><br /><br /><strong>OTHER DUTIES:</strong> Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the incumbent for this job.
