Overview: Create and commission industrial controls systems, PLC software design, and HMI screens, for different systems and environments. Responsible for PLC/HMI code development, code installation, debug on job site, and commissioning of the complete system. Conduct the peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, coordinate the machine debug, power-up, and machine validation with build and electrical teams. Ensure that systems are designed and programmed to company build specifications using standard techniques and approaches. Travel to plant sites for installation and startup of systems.
Responsibilities: &bull; Design, build, and commission electrical control panels / systems.<br />&bull; Develop and program PLC&rsquo;s, HMI&rsquo;s, VFD&rsquo;s, Servo Drives, Sensors, Safety Controllers, etc&hellip;<br />&bull; Work closely with mechanical engineers / machinists to understand design and control limitations for systems design.<br />&bull; Troubleshoot existing automation systems to maintain high reliability.<br />&bull; Train plant technicians&rsquo; on troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques.<br />&bull; Be responsible for maintaining adherence to schematics, NFPA 79 guidelines, NFPA 70e guidelines, and La-Z-Boy standards.<br />&bull; Work with the corporate IT department in the modification of network architecture as needed.<br />&bull; Promote and participate in preventive maintenance development.<br />&bull; Assist with the identification of required maintenance skills and the development of training assessments.<br />&bull; Utilize E1 CAM system to document time and material for projects.<br />&bull; Monitor safety requirements listed in work orders for compliance.<br />&bull; Work with plant personnel to promote the use of TPM on all critical equipment.<br />&bull; Coordinate division wide equipment improvement efforts with plant maintenance, engineering, and operations.<br />&bull; Develop, maintain, and expand the condition based monitoring program.<br />&bull; Assist plant personnel in developing their vibration analysis, oil analysis, ultrasonic inspections, infrared, acoustic emissions, motor circuit analysis, and non-destructive testing programs.<br />&bull; Gather reports, analyze, and use information from data collection systems across the LZB data networks.<br />&bull; Assist in the development of a system for backing up and maintaining all plant equipment software and control programs. (i.e. Gerber&rsquo;s, Baumer&rsquo;s, VFD&rsquo;s, PLC&rsquo;s, security systems, fire protection systems, etc.)<br />&bull; Participate in scheduled plant engineering and maintenance conference calls and meetings.<br /><br /><strong>SCOPE &amp; IMPACT:</strong><br />This position is critical in supporting cost improvement initiatives through Automation. Speed and accuracy is critical when updating and processing of critical information while creating solutions to quality issues, reliability and safety of existing manufacturing assets. Requirements: <strong>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</strong><br />&bull; Associate&rsquo;s degree with 2-4 years of experience or equivalent<br />&bull; Experience with the following software:<br />o Rockwell Software Studio 5000<br />o Rockwell Software RS Logix 500<br />o Rockwell Software Factory Talk View Studio<br />o Maple Systems EZ Ware Plus<br />o Allen Bradley PB32 PanelBuilder<br />o SolidWorks Electrical<br />&bull; JD Edwards/Oracle E1 ERP knowledge skills<br />&bull; Strong electrical, controls, and mechanical ability<br />&bull; Good communication skills and proven inter-personnel skills.<br />&bull; In-depth knowledge of plant infrastructure systems and their operations.<br />&bull; Ability to apply critical thinking to complex systems.<br />&bull; The ability to learn the La-Z-Boy computer systems<br />&bull; The ability to work in a team environment<br />&bull; Travel Required: Up to 50%<br /><br /><br /><strong>PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:</strong><br />&bull; Knowledge and use of Auto CAD a plus.<br /><br /> <p><strong>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES</strong>: None<br /><br /><strong>PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:</strong><br />Office environment / no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands.
