Overview: This position leads the credit, collection, cash application, and customer master functions for the LZB Residential, Casegoods and/or England business units. The role leads a team and makes operational decisions for the dealer base. The Credit Manager will act as the process expert for continuous improvement in systems and processes and is a primary liaison with the dealers and cross-functionally within La-Z-Boy.
Responsibilities: &bull; Works directly and through the team to manage dealer relationships, partnering with sales, while capturing marginal sales and taking business-appropriate risks.<br />&bull; Negotiates payment plans and credit holds with the dealer, communicating high risk dealer issues for business action. Monitors collection accounts, lawsuits, and write offs, working with the Credit Director and Legal. The Credit Manager may handle certain high-risk dealers, regions, or escalations from the Analysts.<br />&bull; Makes collection calls, communicates high risk dealer issues for business action, negotiates repayment plans, and prepare accounts for collection agencies, lawsuits, or write offs working with the Credit Director and Legal.<br />&bull; Makes business-appropriate credit decisions utilizing various sources of information (e.g. pay habit, customers&rsquo; financial statements, and trade credit groups/ reports). Implements personal guarantees, Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) filings, or other risk-mitigation tools, as appropriate with our law firms.<br />&bull; Analyzes dealer financial statements and trade credit information to anticipate issues. When applicable, coordinates and oversees the dealers closing process and liquidation of inventory.<br />&bull; Develops accounts receivable and team metrics to drive results including percent and dollars past due, Days sales outstanding (DSO), net write offs, risk assessments completed, open returns, and accounts over credit line that impact sales, cash flow, the P&amp;L, and A/R risks.<br />&bull; Establishes relationships with industry vendors and trade groups to share appropriate credit information and best practices. Negotiates contracts for these services.<br />&bull; Plans and implements activities to develop an effective team include hiring, training, goal setting, coaching, monitoring individual performance and driving results with the goal of continually enhancing talent to support company initiatives.<br />&bull; Leads potential systems upgrades of the order management, credit, collection, and/or customer master functions as technologies change.<br />&bull; Becomes a primary liaison cross-functionally with the Sales, Logistics, Customer Service, and IT teams for the assigned divisions.<br />&bull; Assist the Director of Credit in determining appropriate goals, control structures, and credit policies and procedures. Acts as a back up to the Director and other Credit Manager, working in collaboration on joint accounts<br /><br /><strong>SCOPE &amp; IMPACT:</strong><br />This position leads the A/R and Credit function for the LZB Residential, Casegoods and/or England business units. The A/R portfolio consists of $140 million and 4,300 active dealer accounts, led by the Credit Managers.
Requirements: <strong>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</strong><br />&bull; Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with 6-8 years of relevant experience, or equivalent.<br />&bull; 3-5 years Supervisory/Leadership Experience required.<br />&bull; Advanced Microsoft Excel and Proficient in PowerPoint.<br />&bull; Comfortable with data, analytics, and ERP systems with demonstrated experience in implementing and maximizing systems and processes.<br />&bull; Proficient in financial statement and cash flow analysis<br />&bull; Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written<br />&bull; Strong attention to detail, while demonstrating ability to see big picture, and balance competing needs<br />&bull; Up to 5% Travel Required.<br /><br /><strong>PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:</strong><br />&bull; Master&rsquo;s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field<br />&bull; CPA or CCE<br />&bull; Familiar with creditor rights (Article 9), collection remedies, and credit risk mitigation tools (guaranties, UCC&rsquo;s, etc.)<br /><br /><strong>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong>&nbsp;Up to seven direct reports<br /><br /><strong>PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:</strong><br />Office environment/no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands.<br /><br /><strong>CORE ATTRIBUTES:</strong><br />Communicate Transparently<br />Lead the Team<br />Impact and Influence<br />Deliver Results<br />Coach and Develop<br /><br />At La-Z-Boy, we are committed to fostering an environment in which all employees feel valued, included, and empowered to do their best work and bring great ideas to the table.
