Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Safely execute and perform routine performance and physical testing of textile substrates to applicable standards including but not limited to the Company&rsquo;s relevant MFG, AATCC, ASTM and ISO test methods.</li> <li>Leads the scheduling and reporting of all textile samples submitted for testing (includes receipt and management of samples, preparation of samples, execution of the tests requested) &nbsp;</li> <li>Completes formal lab reports with all appropriate documentation for retention.</li> <li>Leads in the training and education of other lab technicians on test methods, standard operating procedures to help them improve their consistency and accuracy</li> <li>Responsible for reviewing all testing results for pass or fail to all requirements for acceptance criteria</li> <li>Maintains fabric testing equipment and to keep in working order.</li> <li>Establishes and maintains competency of all related industry and internal test standards applicable to products of the Company&rsquo;s Incorporated and its subsidiaries. This includes maintaining an understanding of all internal standard operating procedures.</li> <li>Communicates updates to test stakeholders as planned or requested. Includes both individual details and general schedule updates.</li> <li>Maintains database of testing procedures, standards (internal and external), and results.</li> <li>Leads in all internal process improvements related to textile testing for quality and efficiency</li> <li>Supports other lab testing efforts when needed</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>SCOPE &amp; IMPACT:</p> <p>Leads the Test Lab Technician team in creating, recording, and communicating objective, repeatable empirical data to validate or verify product specifications.</p>
Requirements: <p><strong>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</strong>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma with 4-6 years of relevant experience or equivalent</li> <li>4 -6 years practical experience in textile testing. Experience with upholstery fabrics preferred, but not required</li> <li>Proficient in Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook &amp; Project),</li> <li>Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Test &ndash; requires a score of 50 or less. All applicants to be evaluated during the interview process.</li> <li>Strong familiarity with the design, testing and manufacturing of textiles and the variables that may influence performance.</li> <li>Able to program and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC&rsquo;s).</li> <li>Proficient ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in test equipment.</li> <li>Strong experience with general lab safety and process controls (ISO 17025).</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:</strong>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Degree in Textiles or related Science. Textile manufacturing experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.</li> <li>Significant experience in more than one field of testing.</li> <li>Strong familiarity with furniture construction, and textiles</li> <li>Experience mentoring/teaching others.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:&nbsp;</strong>None</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p> <p>Often required to sit, repetitive hand motion (such as typing), hear, listen, talk, stand, walk,&nbsp;bend, stoop,&nbsp;kneel, squat, balance, reach overhead, crawl, pill, push and lift &ndash; up to 50 pounds. Seldom required to climb stairs, climb ladders or Lift up to 75 pounds.
