Since 1983, more than 1.5 million people have attended LivingWorks programs. LivingWorks&rsquo; contributions to suicide prevention have been recognized by the United Nations in addition to many local and national governments and organizations.<br /><br />This position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and development of internationally recognized suicide intervention training materials produced by LivingWorks Education.&nbsp; LivingWorks (LW) is known for its innovative approach to training program design, based on principles of adult learning. Our training programs prepare people to play an active, defined role in building suicide safer communities. They excel at helping participants learn evidence-informed, practical suicide intervention helping skills through creative, interactive learning experiences. <p>This position reports directly to the Vice President for Design, Development, and Evaluation (DDE).<br /><br />LivingWorks is seeking candidate(s) who can contribute to the Design and Development, and possibly also the evaluation, of its suicide intervention training programs.</p> <p>Programs that participants attend in person offer unique benefits and will continue to feature prominently in the learning experiences LW develops and offers.</p> <p>LW is also seeking to optimize the growing potentials of online and social media tools in designing and disseminating its programs. Some new programs will be designed specifically for access through these electronic media (e-media).&nbsp; Online and social media will also play an increasing role in the ongoing development of our trainers and refreshers for participants.<br /><br />Collaborative teamwork is foundational to the LW DDE environment. New candidates who join the LW DDE team will receive mentoring that orients them to LW values, beliefs and DDE processes. The mentoring process will also actively encourage the Coordinator to identify the distinctive knowledge, perspectives and skills they bring to the team.&nbsp; <br /><br />Program Design and Development spans the following domains of responsibility. The Coordinator would be expected to bring strong competencies and experience in at least four of these areas and be able to offer, or learn to provide, a supporting role in others.</p> Pay for this position is commensurate with education and experience. Responsibilities: <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;Preliminary Planning</p> <ul> <li>Describe the need to which the program responds</li> <li>Identify the target audience(s)</li> <li>Define program&rsquo;s purpose and objectives</li> <li>Position the program&rsquo;s point of difference - unique contribution, how it adds value</li> <li>Describe the dissemination process and media (e.g. in person, online, social media).</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;Program Conceptualization and Foundations</p> <ul> <li>Describe key concepts and outcomes in both written and model form</li> <li>Prepare program rationale</li> <li>Summarize evidence literature informing program development</li> <li>Scope the learning environment and articulate needs, goals and projected outcomes</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;Program Design</p> <ul> <li>Map program outline, clearly articulate scope of work, resource needs, and projected timeline(s)</li> <li>Write training content</li> <li>Design learning tools and learning aids to address both online and adult learning needs</li> <li>Organize pilots and field trials</li> <li>Incorporate pilot and field trial learning into revised drafts</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;Program Production</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with internal and external production teams to develop, review and refine materials and media</li> <li>Provide video production direction and oversite in accordance with LW standards</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;Program Dissemination</p> <ul> <li>Liaise with Coaching and Training teams to prepare trainers</li> <li>Contribute to Quality Assurance</li> <li>Review feedback</li> <li>Identify where editing / improvement is needed</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;Program Review and Improvement</p> <ul> <li>Review and summarize learning from participant and trainer feedback</li> <li>Identify implications for training program revisions</li> <li>Contribute to program improvements</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;Program Evaluation and Research</p> <ul> <li>Develop evaluation models and frameworks</li> <li>Collaborate with stakeholders providing evaluation and research on LW training</li> <li>Summarize research and evaluation findings relevant to LW programs</li> <li>Formulate recommendations for program development and improvements based on findings.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p>The Coordinator must be interested in and committed to suicide prevention. Post-graduate qualifications in social sciences relevant to the role are required.&nbsp; Credentials in one or more fields such as education and training, the helping professions (e.g. psychology, social work, suicidology, mental health), evaluation science and communications are likely to be most relevant.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Demonstrated experience in at least some of the following areas is important:</p> <ul> <li>Designing, developing, delivering and evaluating participatory adult learning programs or courses</li> <li>Developing online courses, digital learning tools and communications for social media</li> <li>Experience in suicide prevention and suicide intervention training</li> <li>Familiarity with multimedia learning technologies</li> <li>Conducting and/or reviewing evaluation and research</li> <li>Writing literature reviews</li> <li>Working in collaborative, innovative teams.</li> </ul> <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>Competencies</strong></p> <ul> <li>Sound written and oral communication skills</li> <li>Sound interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively</li> <li>Ability to show initiative within the framework of the role and its responsibilities</li> <li>Ability to synthesize complex content subject matter into accessible learning materials</li> <li>Ability to work creatively and effectively in a fluid, change-oriented team environment</li> <li>Proficient computing skills in word processing and online media</li> </ul>
