Overview: <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>The Role</strong></span> <br /><br />Material is seeking a Supervisor, PR &amp; Communications to join the Karma Agency team based in Philadelphia. This role handles research and content development, pr campaign planning and strategy, proactive media relations; creative and persuasive writing (press releases, media alerts, key messages, newsletters, bylined articles, content, etc.); building and maintaining databases of media, bloggers and influencers; develop content for and administer social media channels; engage with clients regularly; and work directly with agency colleagues in program development and plan implementation. Because we are currently remote due to COVID-19 and will be moving to a hybrid working model in the Fall, we have flexibility to hire outside of the Philadelphia area.&nbsp;<br /><br /><br /><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>About Us</strong></span> <br /><br />The Karma Agency, now a Material Company, is an independent strategic communications firm headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Responsibilities: Responsibilities <ul> <li>Develop strategies, plans and campaigns to fulfill client business objectives</li> <li>Manage or co-manage day-to-day account activities for clients as assigned</li> <li>Serve as a regular point of contact for clients offering consultation on your areas of expertise and participate in regular client meetings</li> <li>Draft press releases, media alerts, Q&amp;A documents, bylined articles, and other press materials and editorial pieces and content</li> <li>Build, qualify and manage media lists</li> <li>Conduct proactive and reactive media pitching and media management</li> <li>Monitor the media and collect press coverage for clients (this will be supported by a junior team member)</li> <li>Participate in weekly calls with the client</li> <li>Contribute to status reports and monthly activity reports</li> <li>Coordinate campaigns plans and work with brand management, creative and digital teams as needed to implement projects holistically</li> </ul> Key Attributes <ul> <li>A solid understanding of the role of communications and most notably, what makes news newsworthy</li> <li>A strong, active listener with excellent conversational skills via any media or in person</li> <li>Excellent media relations skills and a desire to pitch both big and small news across publications ranging from opinion-elite to mainstream and regional outlets</li> <li>A powerful and quick writer, as well as editor, that must be AP style literate</li> <li>A strategic and creative thinker</li> <li>Highly organized, responsive and able to manage client requests and expectations and be able to swiftly multi-task on a daily basis</li> <li>A go-getter with a commitment to the work and the clients as well as continuous learning and improving</li> </ul>
Requirements: Requirements <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s or Master's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or a related field</li> <li>5-7 years of relevant professional work history.</li> </ul>
