Overview: <strong>The Role:</strong>&nbsp; We have an immediate position available for a Creative Director to join Karma's team in our Philadelphia office. Because we are currently remote due to COVID-19, we have flexibility to hire outside of the Philly area.&nbsp; The Creative Director is a pivotal leader in the creative department: the interpretive cartilage between the creative director and a multidisciplinary team of art directors, writers, designers and production designers, as well as a senior contributing creative. Managing both up and down to foster an inspiring and hardworking atmosphere for the creative department, the CD is critical to delivering innovative communication expressions of our clients&rsquo; business problems. Experience on strategic retail accounts&ndash;particularly apparel, beauty and home design&ndash;is essential. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <br /><strong>About Karma:</strong> The Karma Agency, now a Material Company, is an independent strategic communications firm headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Responsibilities: Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Manage the creative work and mentor the team. On some projects, it&rsquo;s seeing the creative director&rsquo;s vision through, on others, it&rsquo;s developing one&rsquo;s own vision against the business challenge and leading the team through.</li> <li>Lead or guide briefings as assigned, ensure junior creatives ask the right questions.</li> <li>Organize the necessary research that accompanies a project kickoff, such as pulling competitive, establishing a war room/space ○ Develop the cadence of internal sharing on creative team: scheduling reviews, wayfinding through interpretation and next steps, negotiating timing extensions, etc.</li> <li>Review ongoing work, clarifying and directing revisions</li> <li>Manage, supervise and develop creative staff.</li> <li>Encouraging fresh thinking from junior creatives</li> <li>Work with account team peers to deliver an accountable creative process to clients, supporting each project and troubleshooting as needed.</li> <li>Evaluate briefs and help to develop the right questions to guide the work</li> <li>Quality control projects by reviewing and editing the team&rsquo;s final products</li> <li>Help develop thoughtful, strategic client presentations and represent the agency with consideration and creativity.</li> <li>Present and sell work &ndash;&ndash; you must be a strong advocate for work that marries expertise while still expressing the brand. You can provide a point of view and express it well.</li> <li>Interpret creative direction, follow brand tone and style guides, and maintain a learner&rsquo;s mindset</li> <li>Translate marketing strategies into appropriate copy recommendations, and develop concepts to support marketing goals</li> <li>Concept and execute sound creative ideas for email, digital, social, print collateral, video and other marketing communications in an efficient and economical manner</li> <li>Create outstanding concepts in a way that shows a thorough understanding of the audience and project strategy</li> <li>Offer client and team members innovative advice and solutions from industry examples and experience</li> <li>&nbsp;Prioritize workload and demonstrate excellent time management skills</li> </ul>
Requirements: Characteristics: <ul> <li>Develop conceptual solutions for all manner of execution: digital, social, video, print.</li> <li>Collaborate with account team counterparts to refine and advance the right work.</li> <li>Contribute to thoughtful, strategic client presentations and represent the agency with consideration and creativity.</li> <li>Articulate the business case for the creative approach, preparing sound and thoughtful rationale for work that works.</li> <li>Adapt to a variety of brands and writing styles with ease</li> <li>Solid understanding of the communications landscape: where it's at and where it's heading</li> <li>Demonstrates good taste and judgment, as well as the ability to explain ideas</li> <li>Can conceive big ideas and boil them down into very few words</li> <li>Identify and nurture great concepts from your team, while coming up with a few of your own</li> <li>Background from a creative agency or in-house creative / design department</li> <li>A personal ethos rooted in collaboration and positivity. This job will be difficult to impossible without both.</li> <li>Experience working on conceptual campaigns in the retail, apparel, and home market spaces.</li> </ul>
