Overview: Maxor National Pharmacy Services is seeking a certified pharmacy technician to work Per Diem (PRN) in the Santa Rita Jail Pharmacy<br /><br /><strong>JOB SUMMARY</strong><br /><br />The Pharmacy Tech must have good working knowledge of general responsibilities of a pharmacy technician related to filling orders for unit doses, pre-packaging pharmaceuticals, DEA controlled substances, supplemental medications, emergency kits, and general stock requisitions. Will perform various related pharmacy duties including quality improvement activities and staff training. This position will be located within a correctional facility.
Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (These duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. This document in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position): <br /><br /> <ol> <li>Assist pharmacists in providing effective, appropriate, and safe pharmacy services.</li> <li>Provide friendly and cooperative patient service.</li> <li>Enter patient data accurately.</li> <li>Answer telephones quickly and with courtesy.</li> <li>Pull and count medication from shelves accurately according to label generated at time of dispensing for final check by Pharmacist.</li> <li>Participate in pharmacy orientation programs, training programs for Pharmacy Technicians, pharmacy staff meetings, in-service educational programs and other committees and functions as required by the facility and pharmacy department.</li> <li>Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy.</li> <li>Maintain accurate and complete patient records.</li> <li>Assist in inventory control such as auditing receipt of goods, inventorying, stocking, pricing, monitoring usage, and correcting pricing and quantities in the computer.</li> <li>Remove, pick up, and/or deliver drug orders if necessary.</li> <li>Inform the pharmacist of any alerts form the pharmacy system, such as contraindications, interactions, and allergies.</li> <li>Verify NDC number to pull and count medications.</li> <li>Participate in activities resolving unsafe and unsanitary practices.</li> <li>Issue supplies to other pharmacies or departments as needed.</li> <li>Pre-pack and document medications accurately as needed.</li> <li>Participate in the Performance Improvement Program.</li> <li>Work cooperatively with other staff members to enhance the team concept.</li> <li>Maintains regular attendance according to established policies.</li> <li>Must pass and maintain security clearances as required by client(s).</li> <li>Perform other job-related duties as assigned.</li> </ol>
Requirements: <strong>Education:</strong> High school diploma or equivalent. Must be nationally certified and registered as a pharmacy technician in the state of employment.<br /><br /><strong>Experience:</strong> A minimum of 3 years of experience in pharmacy operations. Correctional facility experience is preferred, correctional health or inpatient experience preferable.<br /><br /><strong>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</strong><br /><br /> <ol> <li>Knowledge of generally accepted pharmacy principles, practices and procedures, pharmaceutical generic and trade names, general mathematics, personal computers.</li> <li>Familiarity with personal computers and pharmacy operating systems to access patient/drug information systems</li> <li>Ability to operate various types of pharmacy equipment.</li> <li>Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time while performing duties.</li> <li>Ability to lift; store and carry supplies and equipment.</li> <li>Ability to problem solve in a changing pharmacy environment.</li> <li>Ability to interact with existing pharmacy and unit based staff in a constructive and productive manner.</li> <li>Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, to interact with a wide variety of individuals to successfully provide optimal patient care.</li> <li>Ability to obtain and maintain site clearance.</li> </ol> Maxor is looking for people who want to lead transformation.
