This unique position is responsible for the coordination and processing of new patient medication orders and reorders. This includes verifying/re-verifying insurance benefits; translating and entering new or refill prescriptions into the pharmacy information system; communicating and collecting copay amounts; screening, identifying, resolving or deferring orders and operating cash registers.

This includes verifying/re-verifying insurance benefits; translating and entering new or refill prescriptions into the pharmacy information system; communicating and collecting copay amounts; screening, identifying, resolving or deferring orders and operating cash registers.<br /><br /><strong>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This document in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position with or without reasonable accommodations):</strong> <br /><br /> <ol> <li>Assist pharmacist in providing effective, appropriate and safe pharmacy services.</li> <li>Read and interpret the prescription and enter the details into the system and prepare the records for assessment by the pharmacist</li> <li>Dispensing prescriptions, measuring doses, weighing compound ingredients, and processes the medicines in the prescription, and if needed, delivery of medications to patients being discharged from the hospital.</li> <li>Maintain proper stock level of the medicines and equipment&rsquo;s and to order more medications if the stock level is low.</li> <li>Provide patient information and counseling.</li> <li>Contact and confer with physicians regarding questions or irregularities on prescriptions.</li> <li>Maintain patients&rsquo; medication records.</li> <li>Maintain inventory and records of controlled drugs and other drugs as required by law.</li> <li>Provide drug information to professional staff and patients as necessary.</li> <li>Participate in inventory control programs such as ordering, inventorying and monitoring correct pricing and quantities.</li> <li>Attend and participate in programs, committees, meetings, and functions as required by the facility or pharmacy.</li> <li>Promptly report any allegations of impropriety to the Compliance Department.</li> <li>Comply with Maxor&rsquo;s Ethical Business Conduct policy and Maxor&rsquo;s Compliance Program.</li> <li>Remain free from exclusion under the OIG and SAMS Medicare/Medicaid lists.</li> <li>Complete required training, as assigned, within the established timeframes.</li> <li>Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.</li> <li>Maintain regular attendance in accordance with established policies.</li> <li>Participate in educational programs for professional staff as necessary.</li> <li>Participate in pharmacy orientation programs, pharmacy staff meetings and in-service educational programs.</li> <li>Participate in activities resolving unsafe and unsanitary practices.</li> <li>Exemplify excellence in customer communications and service.</li> <li>Work cooperatively with other staff members to enhance the team concept.</li> <li>Participate in the Performance Improvement Program.</li> <li>Maintains regular attendance in accordance with established policies.</li> <li>Perform other job-related duties as assigned.</li> </ol>

A minimum of one year of prior experience in a pharmacy is preferred. <br /><br /><strong>Skills and Abilities:</strong> <br /><br /> <ol> <li>Ability to learn and acquire all the practical knowledge and training as needed for Pharmacist role.</li> <li>Communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.</li> <li>Basic knowledge of polices and regulations pertaining to the disbursement of pharmaceutical drugs.</li> <li>Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.</li> <li>Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.</li> </ol> <br /><strong>WORK SCHEDULE:</strong> May be required to work rotating shifts, including holidays, weekends, and on-call.
