Overview: Managing the development of budgets, estimates and proposals for projects as assigned by developing strategies that are in accordance with company objectives and goals.&nbsp; Working in a team environment, the ASE will utilize all available resources in Preconstruction to assure accurate plumbing, HVAC, and sheet metal estimates.&nbsp; Improving the estimating tools, interfacing with computer systems, and leading change within preconstruction processes will also be required.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Perform material and labor take-offs</li> <li>Call on vendors for material and subcontractor bids</li> <li>Attend job meetings and pre-bid meetings</li> <li>Prepare job schedules</li> <li>Help secure work through preparation for and performance during pre-award project interviews</li> <li>Become an expert on FastPipe and Quote Express software</li> <li>Use existing estimating tools and prepare estimates</li> <li>Use computer skills to facilitate improvement of estimating systems and selection of software.</li> <li>Update material and labor pricing in estimating systems.</li> <li>Identify typical assemblies in estimating software and facilitate their usage</li> <li>Develop communication through use of bid tracker and associated smartsheets</li> <li>Understand and apply appropriate labor factors to fabrication and field labor.</li> <li>Develop and support budgeting tools</li> <li>Develop and support our conceptual estimating process and learn this skill</li> <li>Help convert estimates into tools for operations to manage the construction process</li> <li>Facilitate breakdowns of pricing as required by our customers</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>BASIC QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p> <ul style="font-weight: 400;"> <li>Must have basic PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Web-enabled applications and database software. Have intermediate level experience with Excel</li> <li>HS Diploma or GED</li> <li>College degree or equivalent experience plus 1 year of experience in the construction industry or 5 years of construction experience</li> </ul> <p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p> <ul style="font-weight: 400;"> <li>Mechanical engineering or construction management degree</li> <li>Experience with mechanical estimating software</li> <li>College degree in related field</li> </ul> <p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong><u>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND CHARACTERISTICS</u></strong></p> <ul style="font-weight: 400;"> <li>Overall knowledge of the mechanical industry</li> <li>Must have experience in project management and/or estimating</li> <li>Must be a self-starter, with ability to work well as part of a team and independently</li> <li>Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals</li> <li>Ability to maintain painstaking attention to detail while completing multiple or repetitive tasks</li> <li>Able to demonstrate a serious commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals or deadlines</li> <li>Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance</li> <li>Must possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others</li> <li>Must project a professional and polished image that inspires confidence and trust</li> </ul> <p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong><u>WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:</u></strong></p> <ul style="font-weight: 400;"> <li>Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises.</li> <li>Work environment involves some exposure to construction-related hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.</li> <li>Light physical effort.
