Full-Time

Overview: The role of the Technician is to manage and perform startup activities and system performance evaluations on new construction and existing construction projects of all types to include documentation of pre-functional activities and the maintenance of action item lists.&nbsp;The Technician will also be an integral part of the final Commissioning team and will be required to participate in point to point system checkout as well as functional system testing activities and resolution of all operational deficiencies identified as part of this process.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Complete project reviews with the commissioning officer before starting a project</li> <li>Manage and perform all pre-functional activities on a variety of project types and sizes</li> <li>Document all pre-functional activities in our paperless Commissioning documentation systems</li> <li>Maintain a current action item list in our paperless Commissioning documentation systems</li> <li>Communicate job status with the project management team on a daily basis and report any issues that may impede job progress or schedule</li> <li>Assist the Commissioning project management team with equipment and system startup scheduling</li> <li>Maintain the startup crew manpower loading as needed to maintain the project schedule</li> <li>Assist the Commissioning project management team with communicating technical detail to vendors or factory representatives as needed to repair manufacturers defects in equipment</li> <li>Mentor Commissioning Group apprentices in the performance of assigned duties</li> <li>Troubleshoot system problems, provide solutions and manage problem resolution through the Commissioning project management team</li> <li>Assist Test and Balance and manufacturers&rsquo; representatives in resolving issues that impact the performance of the systems within our responsibility or scope of work</li> <li>Supervise other Commissioning Technicians and Apprentices as applicable</li> <li>Coordinate with other trades to keep the construction schedule on track</li> <li>Assist the Senior level commissioning technicians with commissioning activities as applicable</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong><u>BASIC QUALIFICATIONS</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Minimum 5 years mechanical HVAC equipment startup experience</li> <li>High school diploma or GED</li> <li>Must be able/available to travel 50% of time</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience in the construction industry, preferably with a mechancal contractor, TAB contractor or DDC controls contractor</li> <li>At least 2 years&rsquo; experience managing mechanical related work</li> <li>Experience in servicing boilers and chillers</li> <li>Experience commissioning new construction and existing construction projects.&nbsp;</li> <li>MCAA 40 hour foreman training</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong><u>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Must be a self-starter, with ability to work well as part of a team or independently as required</li> <li>Strong leadership skills, self-motivated, team-oriented and able to respond quickly to changing customer demands</li> <li>Must have good communication skills</li> <li>Solid reasoning, math, science, and technical skills</li> <li>Must have a professional appearance</li> <li>Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals</li> <li>Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance</li> <li>Must possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others</li> <li>Good computer skills</li> <li>Proficient in the use of airside and hydronic test and balance meters and instruments</li> <li>Must have a working knowledge of major HVAC equipment including large multi-fan air handling units, steam and hot water boilers, cooling towers and chillers</li> <li>Must have a good working knowledge of the commissioning process</li> <li>Must have the ability to effectively run a startup crew</li> <li>Must be able to handle multiple priorities</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>WORKING CONDITIIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises</li> <li>Work environment involves some exposure to construction-related hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions</li> <li>Light physical effort.
