Overview: <p>McKenney's Inc. voted one of Atlanta and Charlotte's BEST PLACES TO WORK&nbsp; is seeking Engineering &nbsp;and Construction Management Majors for our Charlotte, NC location&nbsp;who are interested in the construction industry.</p> <p><strong><u>WHY CO-OP WITH US?</u></strong></p> <p>Do you thrive on building things? Do you have an entrepreneurial spirit? If you have answered yes, this is the Co-op position that you&rsquo;re looking for. McKenney's Inc has a long history of success in hiring Co-ops. Many of our current leaders started in the Co-op program. The Co-ops work in a collaborative team environment under the leadership of the Project Managers and perform duties similar to those of an Assistant PM while transforming the skyline and existing spaces within the Southeast.&nbsp;</p>
Responsibilities: <p>The responsibilities and job skills learned are primarily dependent upon the individual Co-op's drive, determination, and ability to learn and function on a multi-disciplinary project team.&nbsp; A successful Co-op will learn how to estimate projects and write proposals.&nbsp; They will work directly with vendors to purchase material and equipment. Additionally, they will support the Field Foreman and customer needs through scheduling and site logistics management.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Co-ops are responsible for obtaining permits, assembling submittal&nbsp;and the operating and maintenance manual.&nbsp; The Co-op will interface directly with the Field Foremen of McKenney&rsquo;s as well as those of the General Contractors and other subcontractors to resolve problems and remove obstacles (construct ability and design issues).&nbsp; Experienced, successful Co-ops have run jobs from inception, through construction and final job closeout, under the guidance of their PM.</p>
Requirements: <p>Candidates must be able to complete 3 full-time co-op rotations prior to their graduation<strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>(Fall 2023, Summer 2024, Spring 2025)</strong>.&nbsp; &nbsp;Students must be enrolled in a co-op program at an accredited engineering school majoring in Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial&nbsp;Engineering,&nbsp;or Construction Management.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><u>WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises.</li> <li>Work environment involves some exposure to construction-related hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.</li> <li>Light physical effort. Requires handling average-weight objects up to 25 pounds and some standing or walking.</li> <li>Work requires local and occasional out-of-town travel to job sites and customer locations.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p>
