Overview: Designer shall work in a team environment and under the directive of a lead Designer to develop accurate, constructible, coordinated, and timely Mechanical&nbsp;system models meeting McKenney&rsquo;s drafting standards and fully coordinated with the architectural &amp; structural elements of the building and the other building trades (sprinkler, ductwork, piping, etc.).&nbsp; A Junior Mechanical Piping designer will also be responsible for providing accurate shop drawings that support the construction team.&nbsp; The designer will report to the Lead Designer &amp; Production supervisor and be responsible for interacting with the fabrication supervisor, detailers, project managers, project engineers, field foreman.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Utilize McKenney&rsquo;s CAD standards to create models consistent with company and project requirements.</li> <li>Accurately model systems in compliance with project plans, project specifications, and code requirements for the purposes of producing fabrication documents (spool sheets and drawings) from the model.&nbsp;</li> <li>Coordinate all systems with ductwork, mechanical equipment, other trades, and architectural and structural elements of the building.</li> <li>Coordinate all work to provide safe and adequate access in accordance with manufacturer and code clearances to avoid installation conflicts in the field.&nbsp; &nbsp;</li> <li>Utilize the fabrication team to provide annotated, dimensioned shop drawings, spool assemblies, and spool drawings.</li> <li>Review and distribute fabrication information, including assembly sheets, bills of materials,&nbsp;and spool drawings, to project managers and field leaders.</li> <li>Effectively and proactively communicate with project managers, project engineers, and field foremen during the design, coordination, and construction process.&nbsp; This includes communication of challenges and schedule progress on a timely basis (weekly at a minimum).</li> <li>Use Company tools to manage requests for information and shop drawing progress.</li> <li><span style="font-family: 'Arial Narrow', sans-serif;">Communicate areas of deficiency/gaps along with proposed solutions (RFI's) on projects to support timely completion of work.</span></li> <li>Produce all documents on time and within budget (estimated drafting hours) in a timely manner based on job requirements to meet commitments to our customers, both internal and external.</li> <li>Willingness to seek knowledge from others.</li> <li>Actively pursue self-development of skills as it relates to the duties of this job position.</li> <li>Maintain Enthusiasm and Positive Attitude.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul style="font-weight: 400;"> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Engineering or a related field, or at least two years of experience with Autodesk modeling software (AutoCAD or Revit), or at least four years of field experience.</li> </ul> <p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p> <ul style="font-weight: 400;"> <li>Experience with Mechanical drafting&nbsp;using Autodesk Fabrication CADmep software and Revit software.</li> <li>Basic understanding of what HVAC Mechanical piping systems are.</li> <li>Ability to visualize three-dimensional layouts from two-dimensional drawings.</li> <li>Experience in the construction industry</li> </ul> <p style="font-weight: 400;">&nbsp;<strong><u>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND CHARACTERISTICS</u></strong></p> <ul style="font-weight: 400;"> <li>Ability to read and interpret mechanical,&nbsp;architectural, and structural construction documents.</li> <li>Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work well as part of a team and independently.</li> <li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li> <li>Commitment to detail and deadlines.</li> <li>Must have a professional appearance.</li> <li>Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals</li> <li>Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed, as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.</li> <li>Must possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others.</li> <li>Must have basic PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong><u>WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:</u></strong></p> <ul style="font-weight: 400;"> <li>Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment</li> <li>No or very limited exposure to physical risk.</li> <li>No or very limited physical effort is required.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p style="font-weight: 400;">Moving Safety Forward, our initiative for continuous improvements in our safety culture reminds us that we are on a journey toward a zero-incident culture.
