We provide training and delegate tasks that are important and impactful to our project success.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>WHY INTERN WITH US?</strong></p> <p>You will learn how to estimate projects and scopes of work, work directly with vendors to purchase material and equipment, and support the Field Foreman with customer needs through scheduling and site logistics management.&nbsp;</p> <p>Under the supervision of your assigned Project Manager, you will have the chance to assist in managing projects from conception to construction.&nbsp;</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Work alongside Project Managers to manage the mechanical and plumbing construction of projects from start to finish.</li> <li>Coordinate with vendors to schedule and procure materials and equipment purchases for the construction project.</li> <li>Regularly update and project cost expenditures for the projects&rsquo; budgets.</li> <li>Assist Project Managers and Field Foreman in planning to hit major schedule milestones with the field crews onsite.</li> <li>Regularly survey project sites for adherence to McKenney&rsquo;s safety, quality, and productivity values.</li> <li>Assist in the preconstruction phase of projects by gathering quotes, performing take-offs, and helping assemble estimates.</li> <li>Assist in obtaining necessary permits for projects.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA FOR A MCKENNEY&rsquo;S INTERN?<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Preferred students would be a Junior or Senior enrolled at an accredited school majoring in Mechanical, Engineering Technology, Civil, or Industrial Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> </ul> Or,<br /> <ul> <li>Hold a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree with business management experience with a focus in construction or engineering and 1-2 years of project management experience overseeing technicians working with mechanical systems.</li> <li>If no degree, minimum 5+ years' internal experience working with plumbing, piping, or HVAC systems in office or the field.</li> <li>Must have PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND CHARACTERISTICS&nbsp;<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group, (including PMs, drafting, field staff, fabrication shops, etc.).</li> <li>A genuine passion for building and construction.</li> <li>Ability to work well as part of a team.</li> <li>Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals.</li> <li>Excellent problem-solving ability.</li> <li>Attention to detail while completing multiple or repetitive tasks with a high sense of urgency.</li> <li>Take on additional responsibilities as needed while managing priorities.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS&nbsp;</strong><br /><br /></p> <ul> <li>Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and loud noises.&nbsp;</li> <li>The work environment involves some exposure to construction-related hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.&nbsp;</li> <li>Light physical effort.
