Part Time

Overview: <p><strong>WHY CO-OP/INTERN WITH US</strong></p> <p>A successful Co-op or Intern will learn how to assess risk at construction projects while supporting the continued development of injury prevention initiatives. Experienced, successful Co-ops and Interns will have the opportunity to manage safety projects from inception through closeout, under the guidance of the Safety Specialist. As a Co-op or Intern, you will be part of the team from day one and given training and tasks that are important and impactful to our project&rsquo;s success.&nbsp;This is a paid position.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA FOR A MCKENNEY&rsquo;S INTERN</strong></p> <p>Students must be at least a sophomore, junior, or senior enrolled at an accredited school majoring in Risk Management, Occupational Safety, or equivalent.&nbsp;</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Work alongside Safety Specialist and Safety managers to help project safety efforts.</li> <li>Regularly review and analyze safety data for significant trends and support efforts in communicating those trends and lessons learned with the business.</li> <li>Support root cause analysis of incidents related to injuries and near misses.</li> <li>Walk job sites with safety team to learn about construction workflow, identify hazards, and survey for adherence to safety values.</li> <li>Support department initiatives as directed by the supervisor.</li> <li>Assist in responding to project-related safety inquiries by PMs, APMs, and Field Leaders.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Must have PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software.</li> <li>Detail-oriented.</li> <li>Understanding of customer service skills.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>PREFERRED SKILLS</strong></p> <ul> <li>Data Analytics.</li> <li>Passion for Safety.</li> <li>Critical Thinking skills.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND CHARACTERISTICS&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of staff, including Field leaders, PMs, APMs, crew, fabrication shops, etc.</li> <li>Ability to use your influence and personal savvy to build trust and relationships.</li> <li>A genuine passion for identifying and correcting risk to help ensure McK workers go home the same way they came into work.</li> <li>Ability to work well as part of a team.</li> <li>Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals.</li> <li>Excellent problem-solving ability.</li> <li>Attention to detail while completing multiple or repetitive tasks with a high sense of urgency.</li> <li>Take on additional responsibilities as needed while managing your priorities.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and loud noises.&nbsp;</li> <li>The work environment involves some exposure to construction-related hazards or physical risks, which require the following McKenney&rsquo;s safety protocols.&nbsp;</li> <li>Light physical effort.
