Overview: <p>McKenney's, Inc., voted one of Atlanta&rsquo;s BEST PLACES TO WORK is seeking Mechanical Engineering Majors who are interested in the construction industry for our Fall Co-Op Program.&nbsp;</p> <p>If you have a consistent level of curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and constant learning, McKenney&rsquo;s Engineering is where you want to be. As an Engineer, you will use these four &ldquo;C&rsquo;s&rdquo; daily. Even the best Engineers learn something new each day, and this is what makes the field of engineering so unique.</p> <p>There is no better place to start your engineering development than at McKenney&rsquo;s. Here, you will be given the freedom to show off your strengths, improve on your weaknesses, and challenge yourself. As an engineering co-op, you will find yourself making engineering calculations, sizing/selecting equipment, and using Revit and AutoCAD to create engineering drawings. As you develop your skills, you will be responsible for taking an entire project from start to finish; interacting with other trades such as architects, electrical engineers, and equipment vendors.</p> <p>When asked about this role, a third term co-op exclaimed, &ldquo;<em>At McKenney&rsquo;s, you always feel important, not a day goes by where you are not participating in a project or task that truly matters to the company.</em>&rdquo;</p> <p>Though there is much more to engineering than crunching numbers. The best engineers have mastered the soft skills. At McKenney&rsquo;s, there are ample opportunities to develop in this regard. For example, engineering co-ops work side-by-side with professional engineers, project managers, and other co-ops on almost every project. Collaborating with this diverse group of individuals will help you form lifelong leadership and communication skills.</p> <p>When questioned about the work environment, a first term co-op proudly stated, &ldquo;<em>The work environment is great! The Co-ops work in a collaborative team environment under the leadership of the Engineering Solutions team and perform duties like those of an Assistant Project Engineer while transforming the skyline and existing spaces within the Southeast.&nbsp;</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Work alongside architects and clients to understand customer needs and develop designs that meet these needs.</li> <li>Learn how to size ductwork, piping, and plumbing along with the selection of equipment/fixtures.&nbsp;</li> <li>Work directly with vendors to specify equipment.</li> <li>Support the field by generating design documents for large and small construction projects.&nbsp;</li> <li>Perform jobsite visits to collect information for development of your design and to ensure your design has been constructed properly.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Candidates must be able to complete two (2) full-time co-op rotations, preferably three (3) in Atlanta prior to their graduation.&nbsp; &nbsp;</li> <li>Students must be enrolled in a co-op program at an accredited engineering school majoring in Mechanical Engineering.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p> <ul> <li>Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering Program.</li> <li>GPA 3.0 or higher but not absolutely required.</li> <li>Some type of Leadership skills, (Student organization, Athletic teams, Servant Leadership).</li> <li>Experience with creative problem solving, especially hands-on.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Moving Safety Forward, our initiative for continuous improvements in our safety culture, reminds us that we are on a journey toward a zero-incident culture.
