Overview: McKenney's Inc. is seeking Project Engineers to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia. This exciting role of is a 9-12-month entry-level position designed to expose you to McKenney&rsquo;s processes, capabilities, and scope of work before moving into an Assistant Project Manager, Engineer, Sales Engineer, and/or some other role within the organization.<br /><br /><strong>SUMMARY</strong><br />As a Project Engineer, you will work in a team environment where you will participate and learn McKenney&rsquo;s preconstruction processes, design and virtual construction, fabrication workflows, field installation mechanical systems, and start-up and commissioning of those systems.&nbsp;
Responsibilities: Learning objectives in this role include, but are not limited to, the detailing of mechanical systems (ductwork, mechanical piping, and plumbing), coordinating McKenney&rsquo;s work with customers and other trades through the BIM process, estimating projects, interacting with our suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors, and working in the field as part of an installation crew. In addition to this training, we expect the Project Engineer to develop good relationships through regular interactions with project managers, field and shop foreman, virtual construction team members, field operations, engineers, suppliers, and other trade sub-contractors.
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or building construction; will accept equivalent business management degree with a focus in construction or engineering.</li> <li>If no 4-year degree is attained, a High School diploma with a minimum 5+ years internal experience working with plumbing, piping, or HVAC systems in office or the field is required.</li> <li>Must have PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software.</li> </ul> <br /><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</strong> <ul> <li>Demonstrated interest or experience&nbsp;in the construction industry.</li> <li>Two years of experience managing mechanical work</li> <li>Strong Business Acumen (entrepreneurship counts)</li> <li>Knowledge of Account Management (managing multiple customers)</li> <li>Leadership exposure (conferences, training, etc.)</li> </ul> <br /><strong>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND CHARACTERISTICS</strong> <ul> <li>Strong leadership skills, self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to respond quickly to changing customer demands</li> <li>Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals</li> <li>Must be a self-starter with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team</li> <li>Maintain a strong attention to detail and the ability to successfully prioritize company drafting needs to maximize company profitability</li> <li>Team-oriented and able to respond quickly to changing customer demands.</li> <li>Ability to effectively communicate across a diverse group of people (PMs, drafting, field staff, fabrication shops, etc.).</li> <li>Solid reasoning, math, science, and technical skills.</li> <li>Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals</li> <li>Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.</li> <li>Must possess and maintain an exceptional work ethic and high level of project ownership as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others.</li> <li>Must be persistent and able to attain results under adverse circumstances and conflict</li> </ul> <br /><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:</strong> <ul> <li>Work involves moderate exposure to elements like hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises.</li> <li>The work environment involves exposure to construction-related hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.</li> <li>Light physical effort.
