Full Time

Overview: As a Co-op, you will be part of the team from day one and given training and tasks that are important and impactful to our projects' success.<br />Success in this role depends on the Co-op&rsquo;s initiative and teamwork skills. A successful Co-op will learn how to estimate projects and scopes of work, work directly with vendors and subcontractors, and support our operations groups both during the estimating phases and after job turnover.&nbsp;<strong>A top achieving Co-op may lead a full multi-million-dollar bid with Sales Engineer guidance.</strong><br /><em>McKenney's has a long history of success in hiring Co-ops and supporting their evolution into industry leaders. Many of our current senior leaders began their journey in the Co-op program.</em>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Assist Estimators and Sales Engineers in all phases of the bid process.</li> <li>Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to solicit material and equipment quotes.</li> <li>Manage and organize construction documents.</li> <li>With Preconstruction team&mdash;review project drawings and specifications to develop estimates and proposals.</li> <li>Use our software tools (FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Bluebeam) to produce labor and materials reports.</li> <li>Support Preconstruction tech initiatives, including RPAs and data capture.</li> <li>Attend jobsite walks to track and measure estimate performance.</li> <li>Foster relationships with profit centers and represent the Preconstruction department.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <u>Education and Experience:</u> <ul> <li>Candidates must be enrolled in a Co-op program at an accredited engineering school majoring in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related degree.</li> <li><em>Candidates must complete at&nbsp;<u>least two full-time</u>, alternating or sequential Co-op rotations before graduation and should avoid a full courseload while working, which may delay graduation.</em> <ul> <li>1<sup>st</sup>&nbsp;Rotation: Fall 2026</li> <li>2<sup>nd</sup>&nbsp;Rotation: Summer 2027</li> </ul> </li> </ul> Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: <ul> <li>Self-motivated, team-oriented, and detail-focused.</li> <li>Productive in fast-paced environments with strong multitasking skills.</li> <li>Able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage workload efficiently.</li> <li>Effective communicator across diverse teams, including PMs, drafting, field staff, and fabrication shops.</li> <li>Ability to problem solve, think innovatively, and use available time effectively.</li> </ul> <div><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS</strong></div> <ul> <li>Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>No or limited exposure to physical risk; occasional jobsite visits may require climbing permanent and temporary stairs/ladders, passenger use of hoists, and navigating active construction areas.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Light physical effort handling average weight objects up to 50 pounds may be required occasionally.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
