Overview: As a Co-op, you will be part of the team from day one and given training and tasks that are important and impactful to our projects' success.<br />Co-ops will assist in developing cost-effective and efficient HVAC retrofit projects. The scope and growth of your role depend on your motivation, curiosity, and willingness to learn in a dynamic environment.&nbsp;<strong>A successful Co-op could develop a project from start to customer agreement.</strong><br />McKenney's has a long history of success in hiring Co-ops and supporting their evolution into industry leaders. Many of our current senior leaders began their journey in the Co-op program.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Learn varying HVAC system types, how they work, and how to optimize the operations for the best efficiency.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Collaborate with field technicians in coordinating building optimization and retro-commissioning projects.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Partner with vendors and subcontractors to gather material and equipment quotes for various jobs.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Support the Energy team in reviewing project drawings and specifications to develop estimates and proposals.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Utilize software tools to: <ul> <li>Analyze building automation system data.</li> <li>Build hourly energy models of commercial buildings.</li> <li>Identify opportunities for improved building performance.&nbsp;</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Participate in job walks to gather building information and assess operations for performance enhancements.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <u>Education and Experience:</u> <ul> <li>Students must be enrolled in a Co-op program in an accredited 4-year undergraduate degree program with a technology or business-related major.&nbsp;</li> <li><em>Candidates must complete at least two full-time, alternating Co-op rotations before graduation and should avoid a full courseload while working, which may delay graduation.</em> <ul> <li>1<sup>st</sup>&nbsp;Rotation: Spring 2027</li> <li>2<sup>nd</sup>&nbsp;Rotation: Fall 2027</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <u>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</u> <ul> <li>Ability to use time productively.</li> <li>Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.&nbsp;</li> <li>Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently as well as within a team.</li> <li>Maintain a strong attention to detail.</li> <li>Ability to effectively communicate across a diverse group of people (PMs, drafting, field staff, fabrication shops, etc.).&nbsp;</li> </ul> <div><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS</strong></div> <ul> <li>Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>No or limited exposure to physical risk; occasional jobsite visits may require climbing permanent and temporary stairs/ladders, passenger use of hoists, and navigating active construction areas.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Light physical effort handling average weight objects up to 50 pounds may be required occasionally.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
