Overview: As a Co-op, you will be part of the team from day one and given training and tasks that are important and impactful to our projects' success. <br /><br />Success in this role depends on the Co-op&rsquo;s initiative and teamwork. A successful Co-op will support estimating and operations, collaborate with vendors and subcontractors, and support the Field Foreman with customer needs through scheduling and site logistics management. A top achieving Co-op may gain the opportunity to manage projects from start to finish under a Project Manager&rsquo;s guidance. <br /><br />McKenney's has a long history of success in hiring Co-ops and supporting their evolution into industry leaders. Many of our current senior leaders began their journey in the Co-op program.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Work alongside Project Managers to manage the mechanical, plumbing, and/or controls construction of projects from start to finish&mdash;utilizing software, such as Revit, Bluebeam, Procore, and BIM 360. </li> <li>Coordinate with vendors to schedule and procure materials and equipment purchases for construction projects.</li> <li>Regularly update and project cost expenditures for the project&rsquo;s budgets.</li> <li>Plan with Project Managers and Field Foreman to hit major schedule milestones with the field crews onsite.</li> <li>Assist in the preconstruction phase of projects: gather quotes, perform take-offs, and help assemble estimates.</li> <li>Assist in obtaining necessary permits, submittals, and other documentation for projects.</li> <li>Regularly survey project sites for adherence to McKenney&rsquo;s safety, quality, and production values.</li> <li>Take on additional responsibilities each rotation while managing priorities. </li> </ul>
Requirements: <strong>Education and Experience:</strong><br /><br /> <ul> <li>Candidates must be enrolled in a Co-op program at an accredited engineering school majoring in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related degree.</li> <li>Candidates must complete at least three full-time alternating Co-op rotations before graduation and should avoid a full courseload while working, which may delay graduation.</li> <li>1st Rotation: Spring 2027</li> <li>2nd Rotation: Fall 2027</li> <li>3rd Rotation: Summer 2028</li> </ul> <br /><br /><strong>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:<br /></strong> <br /> <ul> <li>Effective communicator across a diverse group of people (PMs, drafting, field staff, fabrication shops, etc.).</li> <li>Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently as well as within a team.</li> <li>Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals.</li> <li>Excellent problem-solving ability.</li> <li>Attention to detail while completing multiple or repetitive tasks with a high sense of urgency.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS<br /></strong> <br /> <ul> <li>Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment. </li> <li>No or limited exposure to physical risk; occasional jobsite visits may require climbing permanent and temporary stairs/ladders, passenger use of hoists, and navigating active construction areas.</li> <li>Light physical effort handling average weight objects up to 50 pounds may be required occasionally.  </li> </ul>
