Overview: <p>McKenney&rsquo;s is seeking an experienced Plumbing Designer to join our team in Charlotte. &nbsp;We are&nbsp;a thriving company with&nbsp;70&nbsp;years of exceptional service to the Southeast.&nbsp; We have&nbsp;become one of the most technology-driven mechanical contractors in the country.&nbsp; We are always challenging our processes and people to make us a stronger asset to our customers.&nbsp;This position holds great challenge and reward for the right person.&nbsp; Your efforts will directly impact the quality of our installations, the effectiveness of our field teams and the financial success of the project.</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>Designer shall work in a team environment to develop accurate, constructible, coordinated, and timely Plumbing system models meeting McKenney&rsquo;s drafting standards and fully coordinated with the architectural &amp; structural elements of the building and the other building trades (sprinkler, ductwork, piping, etc.).&nbsp; A Plumbing designer will also be responsible for providing accurate shop drawings that support the construction team.&nbsp; The designer will report to the modeling supervisor and be responsible for interacting with the fabrication supervisor, detailers, project managers, project engineers, field foreman.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li> Utilize McKenney’s modeling standards to create Plumbing models consistent with company, code, and project requirements. </li> <li> Develop underground plumbing system models fully coordinated with structural footings, grade beams, etc. </li> <li> Accurately model Plumbing systems in compliance with project plans, project specifications, and code requirements. </li> <li> Coordinate all plumbing systems with: ductwork, mechanical equipment, architectural, other trades, and structural elements of the building. </li> <li> Coordinate all plumbing to provide adequate access in accordance with manufacturer and code clearances to avoid installation conflicts in the field. </li> <li> Collaborate with the fabrication team to provide annotated, dimensioned shop drawings. </li> <li> Review and distribute fabrication information including assembly sheets, and spool drawings to project managers and field leaders. </li> <li> Effectively and proactively communicate with project managers, project engineers and field foremen during the drafting and construction process. This includes communication of challenges and schedule progress on a timely basis (weekly at a minimum). </li> <li> Use company tools to manage requests for information and shop drawing progress. </li> <li> Proactively identify and communicate areas of deficiency/gaps along with proposed solutions on projects to support timely completion of work. </li> <li> Work with project manager and field foreman to create As-Built drawings for projects. </li> <li> Produce all documents on time and within budget (estimated drafting hours) in a timely manner based on job requirements to meet commitments to our customers, both internal and external. </li> <li> Willingness to seek knowledge from others. </li> <li> Actively pursue self development of skills as it relates to the duties for this job position. </li> <li> Maintain Enthusiasm and Positive Attitude. </li> </ul>
Requirements: BASIC QUALIFICATIONS<br /> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED</li> <li>Minimum of 3 years working in the Plumbing trade or 3 years of Plumbing design experience using AutoCAD 2017, Revit MEP and 3-D drafting packages</li> <li>Thorough knowledge of plumbing code</li> </ul> PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS <ul> <li>Experience with Plumbing drafting using Autodesk Fabrication software; CADmep with AutoCAD or Fabrication for Revit.</li> <li>Ability to size plumbing systems, select fixtures and similar activities.</li> <li>2-year Associates Degree in drafting or similar area.</li> <li>Ability to visualize three dimensional layouts from two dimensional drawings.</li> <li>Holds a current plumbing license in the State of North Carolina</li> </ul> KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND CHARACTERISTICS <ul> <li>Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural construction documents.</li> <li>Must be a self-starter, with ability to work well as part of a team and independently.</li> <li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li> <li>Commitment to detail and deadlines.</li> <li>Must have a professional appearance.</li> <li>Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals</li> <li>Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.</li> <li>Must possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others.</li> <li>Must have basic PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software</li> </ul> WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: <ul>Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
