Overview: <p>Montefiore seeks a board eligible/board certified Physician Assistant for the Division of Critical Care Medicine. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Medical services rendered by physician assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals.</li> <li>Physician Assistants, in an emergency, shall be authorized to treat any medical disease and/or perform any medical and surgical procedures at the hospital for affiliates. An emergency, for these purposes, is defined as a situation in which any delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or an immediate threat to life of the patient and that a qualified practitioner is not immediately available.</li> <li>Additional responsibilities include:&nbsp;Arterial catheter&nbsp;insertion/removal;&nbsp;Central&nbsp;venous&nbsp;catheter insertion/removal;&nbsp;Temporary hemodialysis catheter&nbsp;insertion/removal;&nbsp;Pulmonary artery catheter&nbsp;insertion/removal;&nbsp;Midline&nbsp;catheter&nbsp;insertion/removal;&nbsp;Thoracentesis;&nbsp;Endotracheal&nbsp;intubation;&nbsp;Chest tube&nbsp;insertion/removal;&nbsp;Intra-aortic balloon pump&nbsp;removal;&nbsp;Arterial sheath&nbsp;removal;&nbsp;lntraosseous catheter&nbsp;insertion/removal;&nbsp;Interpretation of pulmonary artery catheter tracings;&nbsp;Management of patients with ventricular assist devices; Management of patients with extra- corporeal membrane oxygenation circuits.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The activities listed above may be performed in any setting authorized by the supervising physician, including but not limited to, clinics, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, patient homes, nursing homes and other institution settings.</p> <p>In addition to the core skills listed here, PAs, will request validation to perform department specific skills.</p>
