Overview: Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Clinical Pathology is responsible for the laboratory testing of blood, urine, and body fluids for disease diagnosis and health maintenance. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Run tissue processor to produce paraffin blocks.</li> <li>Embed pathology specimen to view all layers.</li> <li>Cut Pathology specimens on rotary microtome.</li> <li>Stain routine Hematoxylin Eosin to view tissue section, stain routine special stains (GMS, AFB, PAS) in order to identify organism or specific tissue elements.</li> <li>Enzyme histochemistry (leder esterase).</li> <li>Perform order entry and update on LISA to bill special stains.</li> <li>Label and sign out slides to assure accurate distribution of cases.</li> <li>Cover slipper (manual and automated), to ensure there is no water or air bubble under coverslip.</li> <li>Perform all routine work, quality control to ensure high standard in the laboratory.</li> <li>Record equipment maintenance to ensure proper operation of equipment.</li> <li>Prepare solutions to ensure correct histological processing.</li> <li>Process requests from pathology residents and attendings to ensure that work order is complete.</li> <li>Assist in Immunohistochemistry procedure to identify antigens.</li> <li>File paraffin blocks and slides.</li> <li>Prioritize duties, tissue handling, sign out of cases.</li> <li>Troubleshoot technical procedures.</li> <li>Perform other duties in the department as needed.</li> </ul>
