Overview: <p>Over the past forty years, Montefiore's Division of Substance Abuse has helped thousands of men and women enter recovery and re-join their families and communities. Through recovery, individuals are empowered to help find meaning in their lives and integrate back into their communities.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The Staff Nurse functions as part of the clinic leadership team, performs task and carries out responsibilities within the framework of health teaching, health counseling and supportive / restorative care. These duties are performed under the supervision of the Head Nurse / staff. The Staff Nurse will be required to perform the duties listed below and other duties involving the same type, area and degree of responsibility.</p> <br /> <br />
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Pursuant to objectives and policies of the Program, provides nursing care / activities as assigned by Head Nurse / designee, and in support of medical care as directed by the Physician</li> <li>Assume all responsibilities of RN / LPN as outlined in each job description</li> <li>Demonstrate accountability to care, plan, and coordinate to ensure that continuity is provided</li> <li>Dispense and administer prescribed medication and treatment and observe patients for any reaction to medication</li> <li>Record and report significant patient incidents / problems to Head Nurse Administrator, Chief Physician</li> <li>Knowledge of the principles of confidentiality of patient information</li> <li>Develop effective communications within the clinical units</li> <li>Conduct and participate in patient educational activities</li> <li>Maintain all pertinent clinical records</li> <li>May be assigned rotation to other program sites</li> <li>Clinic activities may vary depending on clinic needs and activities</li> </ul> <br /> <br /> <br />
Requirements: <ul> <li>Must have New York State license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse or valid permit to practice in New York State</li> <li>High School Diploma / GED required, BSN Degree preferred</li> <li>Basic Life Support training</li> <li>Infection Control training</li> <li>Certification in specialty preferred</li> <li>Effective English communication skills, both written and oral</li> <li>Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval systems</li> </ul> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The hours for this position are 10:00am-6:30pm Mon-Fri and 6:30am-3pm on alternating Saturdays. This is a float position and requires flexibility to work at all Wellness Center locations and various shifts as needed.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />This is a 100% grant funded position<br /> <br />
