Overview: This LPN will receive patients in the Dermatology clinic in order to ensure the effective delivery of service. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Greet and direct patients to exam room. Provide patient/family teaching and discharge instructions to meet learning/discharged needs as identified by RN.</li> <li>Provides and maintains safe environment for patients/families through preventive and interventional measures.</li> <li>Able to set priorities, problem solve and use proper judgment in difficult situations and be flexible in non-emergent situations.</li> <li>Documents direct patient care as per MMC policies and procedures. Responsible and accountable for following MMC guidelines.</li> <li>Participates, practices and promotes continuous quality improvement.</li> <li>Communicates effectively with patients/families and members of the health care team.</li> <li>Sterilize instruments and equipment using the autoclave.</li> <li>Order and maintain medications and supplies to par level for site/s. Ensure exam rooms are appropriately, cleaned and stocked each session and between patients.</li> <li>Collect and properly label specimens as per MMC policy. Maintain specimen(blood,biopsy) logbooks and report abnormal results to MD. </li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>High School diploma/GED</li> <li>New York State License for Practical Nurse and current registration to practice as an LPN in New York State.</li> <li>Minimum one year experience.</li> <li>Basic Life Support.</li> <li>Effective English communication skills, written, oral and interpersonal.</li> <li>Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval system.</li> <li>Additional education required by specialty areas/patient care locations.</li> <li>Ability to deal effectively with public and medical staff. Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills.</li> <li>Automated clinical information system</li> <li>Personal Computer, Telefax, Photocopier, Telephone</li> <li>Centrifuge, EKG Machine, Sterilization process and/or Autoclave Machine where applicable.</li> <li>Misc. Dermatology Surgical Equipment where applies.</li> <li>Allergy Equipments where applicable.</li> </ul> <br />
