Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Medical services rendered by physician assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories &amp; performing physical examinations; ordering &amp;/or performing diagnostic &amp; therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing &amp; implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; assisting at surgery; offering counseling &amp; education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals.</li> <li>Physician Assistants in an emergency shall be authorized to treat any medical disease &amp;/or perform &amp; medical &amp; surgical procedures at the hospital for affiliates.</li> <li>An emergency for these purposes is defined as a situation in which any delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or an immediate threat to life of the patient &amp; the patient's private physician is not immediately available.</li> <li>In addition, Senior PA responsibilities include general supervision of the PA team &amp; job duties listed below as assigned by PA Director or Chief PA.</li> <li>Assist with administrative aspects of the PA service. Perform role of Admitting/Charge PA as assigned.</li> <li>Assist in the interview process for new PA's. Assist with training &amp; general mentoring of PA's &amp; PA students.</li> <li>Participate with the Medical Director, PA Director &amp; Chief PA's in developing an educational curriculum for PA's. Keep current with respect to new technologies, techniques or patient management strategies. Participate in the formal didactics for PA education.</li> <li>Participate in development &amp; implementation of policies &amp; procedures &amp; quality improvement initiatives.</li> <li>Demonstrate critical thinking skills to problem solve &amp; initiate clinical decision making. Provide supervision &amp; assistance to PA staff during clinical urgencies &amp; emergencies.</li> <li>Participate in a team approach to health care by acting as a liaison between members of the primary care team, nursing staff, interdisciplinary team &amp; consulting services.</li> <li>Must participate in preparedness for all regulations &amp; standards as required by bodies such as JCAHO &amp; NYS DOH.</li> <li>Further responsibilities may include overseeing completion &amp; submission of routine &amp; special reports; oversee various research protocols; data preparation for departmental studies &amp;/or projects.</li> <li>The activities listed above may be performed in any setting authorized by the supervising physician, including but not limited to clinics, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, patient homes, nursing homes &amp; other institution settings.</li> </ul> *This position has a rotating schedule, this may include days, nights, weekends &amp; holidays<br /><br />Day shift- 7am - 7:30pm.<br /><br />Night shift- 7pm - 7:30am.<br />
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies.</li> <li>Five years of Inpatient experience required.</li> <li>Graduate of an Accredited Physician Assistant Program.</li> <li>New York State License.</li> <li>NCCPA Certified.</li> <li>ACLS Certified.</li> <li>BLS Certified.</li> </ul>
