Overview: <p>The Nurse Practitioner has primary responsibility for providing clinical services&nbsp;to clinical research&nbsp;patients&nbsp;enrolled on cancer clinical research studies. This includes the assessment, diagnosis and treatment&nbsp;and&nbsp;management of disease and treatment side effects.&nbsp;<strong>This is a grant funded position.</strong><br /><br />The Nurse Practitioner also works closely with the physician leader, sub investigators/treating physicians and research team of the&nbsp;assigned disease research team.&nbsp;The Montefiore NP maintains standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing's Social Policy Statement.<br /><br />The NP actualizes the vision, mission, values, balanced scorecard performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center.</p> <p><br />The NP participates in performance improvement/research activities; maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills. The NP demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served.<br /><br />The Nurse Practitioner will assess and provide care to a selected group of patients in collaboration with physicians. The NP will be responsible for carrying out the plan of care for his/her patient panel.<br /><br />The NP contributes to the actualization of the philosophy and objectives of the specific Division/ Department. He/she practices within the scope of practice in care delivery. He/she participates in performance improvement and research activities, and maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Providing clinical services to patients. This includes the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of developmental and behavioral disorders including a complete health history and physical exam<br /> <ul> <li>Provide clinical services&nbsp;and research support to research patients during the clinical hours--including the assessment and treatment of adverse events experienced while participating on a cancer clinical trial and providing supportive care.&nbsp;</li> </ul> </li> <li>In collaboration with physicians and other health care providers, coordinates care of patients and evaluates plan of care and patient toward health goals and modifies plan of care.<br /> <ul> <li>Appropriate care is provided as per standard of care and per collaborative practice agreement.</li> <li>Plan of care is communicated to all members of the health care team.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Collaborates with patient and/or involved others and/or agencies to formulate a plan of care.<br /> <ul> <li>Appropriate plan is agreed upon between NP and involved others. A therapeutic relationship is established with patient and/or involved others. Identifies patient and/or involved others in satisfaction/dissatisfaction&nbsp;with plan of care.
