Responsibilities: <p>As a vital member of our interdisciplinary school health team, you will contribute to nursing standards of practice while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care:</p> <ul> <li>Direct Patient Care: Provide direct clinical care to a pediatric and adolescent student population under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN).</li> <li>Clinical Tasks: Safely administer medications, treatments, and procedures within the LPN scope of practice; collect specimens and perform selected diagnostic tests (including venipuncture).</li> <li>Student &amp; Family Education: Deliver clear patient/family teaching and discharge instructions tailored to the student&rsquo;s developmental and cultural needs.</li> <li>Safety &amp; Compliance: Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control, safety, and disaster policies; document all care, interventions, and observations accurately in the electronic health record.</li> <li>Collaboration &amp; Flexibility: Partner with RNs and school staff to resolve patient care issues, manage competing demands, and adapt smoothly to the changing daily workflow of a school environment.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED minimum.</li> <li>Current New York State LPN License &amp; Registration.</li> <li>Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.</li> <li>Infection Control Certificate.</li> <li>Effective written, oral, and interpersonal English communication skills.</li> <li>Basic data entry and computer retrieval skills.</li> <li>Must complete fingerprinting for Department of Education (DOE) and Justice Center Security Clearance.</li> <li>Occupational Health Services (OHS) Annual Assessment &amp; Fit Test.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>*Alternate Work Schedule: Enjoy 6 weeks off in the summer! This position operates from September through June while school is in session, with prorated compensation to match the academic calendar.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek.</p>
