Provides direct and indirect patient care, technical skills and procedures, performs routine secretarial and clerical duties and &nbsp;participates in maintaining the environment. Provides continuous observation of cardiac monitor tracings of acute cardiac patients. Ensures proper functioning of cardiac monitoring equipment. Interprets and reports cardiac dysrhythmia and initiates emergency measures when potentially lethal dysrhythmia occur.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Provides patient care in a manner which supports the patient's rights and dignity; initiates measures to provide for patient and family comfort.</li> <li>Meets hygiene and grooming needs of patients; assists in meeting the fluid and nutritional needs of patients.</li> <li>Provides and maintains a safe environment through preventive and intervention measures. Assists patient with pulmonary toilet.&nbsp;Provides care to patients requiring continuous electrical cardiac monitoring.</li> <li>Participates in maintaining patient's skin integrity. Assists patients with elimination needs.</li> <li>Collects patient data through observation, measurement, and data retrieval.</li> <li>Obtains specimens for laboratory analysis.</li> <li>Performs technical skills as defined by scope of practice and competency assessment process.</li> <li>Participates in the implementation of the treatment plan developed by the professional staff, patient, and family.</li> <li>Communicates effectively with patients, families, and staff.</li> <li>Ability to set priorities, problems solve, use proper judgment in difficult situations and assist in emergency situations.</li> <li>Provides transportation services which support patient care activities.</li> <li>Performs activities to maintain a clean, safe and therapeutic environment.</li> <li>Performs general secretarial and clerical duties on the patient care unit.</li> </ul>
