Overview: <div id="overview" class="job-summary-section ng-scope"> <div class="full-text ng-binding"> <div> <p>The&nbsp;<strong>Surgical Physician Assistant</strong>&nbsp;will provide medical services within the education, training, and experience of the surgical physician assistant that is delegated by the supervising Chief PA and Medical PA Director for Women&rsquo;s Health OBGYN.</p> </div> <div> <p>&nbsp;</p> </div> <div> <p>Medical services rendered by physician assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; writing progress notes, procedure notes and monthly care plans, ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals. Physician Assistants, in an emergency, shall be authorized to treat any medical disease and/or perform any medical and surgical procedures at the hospital for affiliates. &nbsp;An emergency, for these purposed, is defined as a situation in which any delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or an immediate threat to life of the patient and that a qualified practitioner is not immediately available.</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="ng-scope">&nbsp;</div> <div class="ng-scope">&nbsp;</div>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Clinical Duties Including but not limited to :</li> <li> <p>Abscess, Incision &amp; Drainage, Anesthesia, local, Arterial Punctures, Arterial Line, removal, Bladder Irrigation</p> </li> <li> <p>EKG Recording</p> </li> <li> <p>Foley Catheters, insertion and removal</p> </li> <li> <p>Injections, Sub Q, IM intradermal for minor ER surgery</p> </li> <li> <p>Intravenous Medication Administration</p> </li> <li> <p>Nasogastric Tubes, insertion and removal</p> </li> <li> <p>First Assist in the Operating Room</p> </li> <li> <p>Assist in preform D &amp; C or D&amp;E</p> </li> <li> <p>Surgical Dressings, application/removal</p> </li> <li> <p>Sutures and/or staple removal</p> </li> <li> <p>Venipuncture</p> </li> <li> <p>Wound Debridement</p> </li> <li> <p>ER consult and floor consults</p> </li> <li> <p>Admit patients, f/u patients in service and write daily progress notes</p> </li> <li> <p>Order and interpret diagnostic labs and imaging</p> </li> <li> <p>Preop and post-op care</p> </li> <li> <p>Obtain informed consents as needed</p> </li> <li> <p>Update Beta list</p> </li> <li> <p>Prostaglandins insertion for medical termination</p> </li> <li> <p>endometrial, cervical, vaginal and vulva biopsy</p> </li> <li> <p>Accessing of port-a cath</p> </li> <li> <p>Coordination of care at time of discharge for safe transfer to outpatient care</p> </li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree Required; Master&rsquo;s Degree Preferred</li> <li>One year of experience in OB/GYN highly Preferred</li> <li>Graduate of an accredited Physician&rsquo;s Assistant program</li> <li>Registered as a Physician&rsquo;s Assistant in New York State</li> <li>NCCPA certified</li> <li>BLS required</li> </ul>
