Overview: <p>For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.<br /><br />Under close supervision, the <strong>Dental Assistant </strong>assists Dentists in the performance of dental procedures on patients.&nbsp;</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Appropriately hands dental instruments to dentist during treatment of patients.</li> <li>Arranges operating area with all necessary supplies and equipment.</li> <ul> <li>Knowledge of what is needed for procedures.</li> </ul> <li>Maintains inventory list of supplies and instruments.</li> <ul> <li>Uses logs.</li> </ul> <li>Completes X-rays ordered by dentist.</li> <li>Maintains sanitary conditions of all operatory and clean and soiled areas.</li> <ul> <li>Keep clinic very clean.</li> </ul> <li>Ensures appropriate sterility and quality control are maintained in autoclaving and preparing sterile solutions.</li> <ul> <li>Maintains logs, checks reports, changes solutions regularly.</li> </ul> <li>Maintains equipment in clean working order and retains copies of preventive maintenance and quality control.</li> <ul> <li>Maintains equipment and informs when repairs needed.</li> </ul> <li>Neat, clean, proper attire, professional uniform as per policy.</li> <ul> <li>Present clean and neat work appearance.</li> </ul> <li>Treat all co-workers with respect and work with them in a spirit of cooperation.</li> <ul> <li>Cooperates in working with other employees.</li> </ul> <li>Assist with&nbsp;orientation/procedures&nbsp;for new dental associates.</li> <ul> <li>Support and nurture new/current coworkers.</li> </ul> <li>Retracts patient's mouth and operates suction equipment to maintain mouth free of secretions.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>High School/GED Required.</li> <li>1-3 years&rsquo; experience in a dental setting Required.</li> <li>Experience in customer service and multi-tasking strongly Preferred.</li> <li>Dental x-ray equipment; mixing unit for amalgam; autoclave; all dental equipment; computer system and terminal including Epic, EMR, SAP, Word, and Excel; and telephone.</li> <li>Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.</li> <li>Must have ability to use data entry and retrieval systems.</li> <li>Must have ability to use electronic communication and patient information systems.</li> <li>If health center has a significant (more than 35%) English Language learner population e.g., Spanish, then proficiency in that secondary language is preferred.</li> <li>Must have ability to function independently in accordance with policies and procedures.</li> <li>OHS Annual Assessment Required.</li> <li>Dental assistant certificate Preferred.</li> </ul>
