Overview: <p>Montefiore Einstein is seeking an experienced and strategic Assistant Director, Food Services Purchasing to support the procurement operations of the Food &amp; Nutrition Services Department. The successful candidate will oversee purchasing activities, vendor relationships, inventory management, and cost-control initiatives to ensure the continuous availability of food, supplies, and equipment necessary to support patient care and retail food service operations.</p> <p>This role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and a commitment to operational excellence within a complex healthcare environment.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Assist in directing and managing all food service purchasing functions for the department.</li> <li>Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality, service, and competitive pricing.</li> <li>Monitor inventory levels and implement effective inventory control practices to minimize waste and shortages.</li> <li>Analyze purchasing trends, utilization data, and market conditions to identify cost-saving opportunities.</li> <li>Ensure compliance with organizational policies, contractual agreements, regulatory requirements, and food safety standards.</li> <li>Collaborate with Food &amp; Nutrition leadership, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to support departmental objectives.</li> <li>Oversee product sourcing, substitutions, and standardization initiatives.</li> <li>Participate in budget preparation and expenditure management.</li> <li>Prepare and present reports related to purchasing, inventory, and operational performance.</li> <li>Support staff development, workflow improvement, and process optimization initiatives.</li> <li>Assist with emergency procurement needs and operational contingency planning.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>Education</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Hospitality Management, Food Service Management, or a related field required.</li> <li>Master's degree preferred.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Experience</strong></p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 5 years of progressive purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or food service management experience.</li> <li>Previous healthcare, hospital, hospitality, or institutional food service experience strongly preferred.</li> <li>Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Strong understanding of procurement practices, inventory management, and vendor contract administration.</li> <li>Experience with purchasing systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office applications.</li> <li>Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Strong verbal and written communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.</li> <li>Demonstrated commitment to customer service and operational excellence.</li> </ul>
