Overview: <p>For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.</p> <p><strong>Work Schedule - Mon/Wed/Fri, 8:30am-5:00pm &amp; Tu/Th, 10:00am-6:30pm<br /><br /></strong><strong>Job Summary</strong><br /><br />Provides direct restorative treatment of patients, carries out administrative duties associated with patient care, and contributes to department operations appropriate to the specific site.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Responsible for direct patient care as appropriate and as defined by position level:</li> <li>Performs standardized evaluations of patients using standard techniques.</li> <li>Develops appropriate long and short term goals.</li> <li>Develops basic treatment plans based on evaluation results that leads to achievement of goals.</li> <li>Provides age appropriate treatment based on evaluation results that leads to achievement of goals.</li> <li>Evaluates and recommends patient need for specialized equipment, distributes information to patient on purchase or arranges for order and distribution of apparatus, familiar with insurance requirements.</li> <li>Completes documentation according to facility time frames and requirements.</li> <li>Correctly identifies and bills for therapy services rendered.</li> <li>Demonstrates awareness of safety precautions and ability to carry out emergency procedures</li> <li>Attends and participates in in-service programs</li> <li>Provides patient/family education and training and participates in family conferences.</li> <li>Communicates with patients clearly and adjusts approach based on their needs/abilities.</li> <li>Provides 100% direct patient care.</li> <li>Contributes to efficient hospital/facility, department and team functioning:</li> <li>Active participant in hospital/facility, department and team problem solving and projects.</li> <li>Volunteers assistance where needed.</li> <li>Contributes to area operations as appropriate.</li> <li>Supervises PTAs, aides and volunteers as indicated.</li> <li>Notifies the Supervisor/Manager of need for equipment, materials or supplies, or follows department procedure.</li> <li>Participates in department maintenance.</li> <li>Maintains an awareness of department issues, projects a cooperative attitude and promotes problem solving.</li> <li>Complies with department and facility mission, values and policies.</li> <li>Participates in in-service training for staff.</li> <li>Participates in student training program as needed.</li> <li>Takes an active role in staff/supervisor feedback process:</li> <li>Reviews evaluation results, treatment plan and goals with designated staff member.</li> <li>Communicates needs to supervisor.</li> <li>Notifies supervisor of unusual patient findings in a timely manner.</li> <li>Demonstrates an awareness of limitations and seeks supervision appropriately.</li> <li>Modifies performance in response to supervisor&rsquo;s feedback.</li> <li>Demonstrates the ability to translate knowledge of physical, psychosocial and cognitive-perceptual changes related to age into assessments, treatment plans and treatment modalities for pediatric, adolescent, young adult, adult and geriatric patients.</li> <li>Maintains annual requirements for position:</li> <li>Completes assigned department orientation material.</li> <li>Participates in new staff orientation/competency assessment.</li> <li>Maintains professional license.</li> <li>Completes mandatory annual learning (Learning Harbor) within deadline.</li> <li>Other (see Career Ladder).</li> <li>Practices Standard Precautions. Follows regulations, policies and guidelines on the prevention of infections; does not eat or drink in patient care areas.</li> <li>Maintains confidentiality of information; abides by HIPAA regulations.</li> <li>Maintains a professional image and follows Hospital&rsquo;s policy on uniforms; consistently wears hospital ID.</li> <li>Demonstrates reliable, on-time attendance, which is an essential function of all jobs at Burke.</li> <li>Personally adheres to Burke C.A.R.E.S. philosophy by demonstrating compassion, accountability, respect and exceeding expectations through service excellence.</li> <li>Performs other job related duties as assigned.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>BS Required or</li> <li>Masters Required or</li> <li>Doctor of Physical Therapy Required</li> <li>less than 1 year New graduate or less than 2 years experience Required</li> <li>Works with patients, families and interdisciplinary team including PT staff, physicians, and other disciplines</li> <li>Must be able to perform dependent assistance transfers</li> <li>Able to monitor vital signs</li> <li>Eligible for NYS PT License</li> <li>Physical Therapists - New York State Board of Physical Therapy Required or</li> <li>BLS or ACLS certification Preferred</li> </ul> <br />
