Overview: <p>For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.</p> <p>&nbsp;<br />Provides direct restorative and/or maintenance treatment of patients, carries out administrative duties associated with patient care, and contributes to department operations appropriate to the specific site.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Responsible for direct patient/client care as appropriate to site. Once competency has been established:</li> <li>Performs standardized and non-standardized evaluations of patients/clients using standard and adapted techniques.</li> <li>Develops appropriate short- and long-term goals.</li> <li>Develops treatment plans based on evaluation results that lead to achievement of goals.</li> <li>Provides age-appropriate treatment based on evaluation results that lead to achievement of goals.</li> <li>Evaluates and recommends patient/client need for durable medical equipment, completes appropriate justifications, is familiar with insurance requirements.</li> <li>Completes documentation according to facility time frames and requirements.</li> <li>Correctly identifies and bills for therapy services rendered.</li> <li>Attends monthly staff meetings.</li> <li>Is aware of safety precautions and able to carry out emergency procedures.</li> <li>Attends and participates in in-service programs.</li> <li>Fabricates adaptive equipment and splints.</li> <li>Provides&nbsp;patient/client/family&nbsp;education and training and participates in family conferences.</li> <li>Responsible for 100% direct patient care at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital site.</li> <li>Communicates with patients/clients clearly and adjusts approach based on their needs/abilities.</li> <li>Contributes to efficient hospital/facility, department and team functioning.</li> <li>Active participant in hospital/facility, department and team problem solving and projects.</li> <li>Volunteers assistance where needed.</li> <li>Supervises OTA&rsquo;s, aides and volunteer as indicated.</li> <li>Provides in-service training for staff as requested by supervisor.</li> <li>Notifies the Director/Manager of need for equipment, materials or supplies, or follows department procedure.</li> <li>Performs assigned department responsibilities and maintenance.</li> <li>Maintains a neat work area.</li> <li>Maintains an awareness of department issues, projects a cooperative attitude, and promotes positive problem solving.</li> <li>Complies with department and facility mission, values and policies.</li> <li>Covers for Supervisor as indicated.</li> <li>Participates in student training program as needed.</li> <li>Actively participates in the supervision process:</li> <li>Communicates needs to supervisor.</li> <li>Modifies performance in response to supervisors&rsquo; feedback.</li> <li>Notifies supervisor of unusual patient findings in a timely manner.</li> <li>Demonstrates an awareness of limitations and seeks supervision appropriately.</li> <li>Demonstrates the ability to translate knowledge of physical, psychosocial and cognitive-perceptual changes related to age into assessments, treatment plans and treatment modalities for pediatric, adolescent, young adult, adult and geriatric patients.</li> <li>Maintains annual requirements for the position:</li> <li>Completes assigned department orientation material.</li> <li>Attends clinical conferences as directed by supervisor.</li> <li>Participates in new staff&nbsp;orientation/competency&nbsp;assessment as necessary.</li> <li>Other (see career ladder).</li> <li>Other duties as assigned.</li> <li>Practices Standard Precautions. Follows regulations, policies and guidelines on the prevention of infections; does not eat or drink in patient care areas.</li> <li>Maintains confidentiality of information; abides by HIPAA regulations.</li> <li>Maintains a professional image and follows Hospital&rsquo;s policy on uniforms; consistently wears hospital ID.</li> <li>Demonstrates reliable, on-time attendance, which is an essential function of all jobs at Burke.</li> <li>Completes mandatory annual learning (Learning Harbor) within deadline.</li> <li>Personally adheres to Burke C.A.R.E.S. philosophy by demonstrating compassion, accountability, respect and exceeding expectations through service excellence.</li> <li>Performs other duties as directed by Department Director/Manager, Occupational Therapy and/or the site-specific supervisor.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>BS Required.</li> <li>Master's Doctor of Science Required.</li> <li>New graduate or less than 2 years of clinical experience.</li> <li>Works with patients, families and interdisciplinary team including OT staff, Physicians, and other disciplines.</li> <li>Must be able to perform dependent assist transfers.</li> <li>Able to monitor vital signs (HR, BP).</li> <li>Occupational Therapists - New York State Board of Occupational Therapy Required.</li> <li>Initial Certification from NBCOT Required.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Schedule:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Monday, Wednesday &amp; Friday 8:00 AM-4:30PM</li> </ul>
