Overview: <p>For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.</p> <p>Under the direction of the ultrasound attending or the Director of Ultrasound and Site Administrator (for non-clinical functions), performs a variety of ultrasound examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Uses independent judgment and initiative to described scanning methods for purposes of medical diagnosis.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Perform to completion sonograms of indicated anatomical areas using available modalities following prescribed protocols.<br /> <ul> <li>Ensure complete sonographic examinations as required for diagnostic purposes (ACR standards).</li> </ul> </li> <li>Utilize correct patient positioning based on patient habitus and exam requirements.<br /> <ul> <li>Optimizations and thorough scanning techniques for all exams.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Prepare a preliminary written impression of completed sonogram.<br /> <ul> <li>Supply initial impression for review by attending in charge for all exams performed.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Interview patients for identification, patient education, and detailed clinical history.<br /> <ul> <li>Performance of appropriate exam and patient awareness. Zero error tolerance for patient identification.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Maintain quality patient care, e.g., IV pump operation, oxygen delivery, patient modesty, etc.).<br /> <ul> <li>Maximize patient safety and comfort - Zero incidence rate.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Clean and maintain ultrasound equipment between procedures.<br /> <ul> <li>Universal precautions and infection control.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Monitor and maintain performance of all equipment.</li> <li>Ensure proper equipment function to manufacturer's specifications. Adherence to manufacturer's specifications. <ul> <li>Safe handling and security of ultrasound equipment.</li> <li>Minimize equipment downtime from mishandling and loss.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Maintain film jackets, patient records, exam verification in charts, will be trained and must utilize ASOBGYN proficiently.<br /> <ul> <li>Accurate medical documentation of procedures in charts utilizing ASOBGYN.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Correlation of x-ray, lab results, and other clinical data.<br /> <ul> <li>Correlation of clinical and ultrasound findings for maximum yield.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Maintain the standard of Montefiore RESPECT in the working environment.<br /> <ul> <li>In order to have a productive and pleasant environment, strive for excellence in all areas of the position.</li> </ul> </li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent, required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Graduate of an approved program in&nbsp;Echocardiography/Ultrasound&nbsp;and demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, physics or diagnostic ultrasound and familiarity with pertinent medical/surgical disease.</li> <li>Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer certification, required.</li> </ul>
