Overview: The Assistant Director of Nursing Services works in conjunction with the Director of Nursing Services in managing Nursing Services. In this position, he or she supervises the activity of Nursing Supervisors and has primary responsibility for supervising areas of Nursing Services which include staff performance, quality assurance activities, MDS data entry and submission; nursing staffing practices and payroll preparation; resident accident/incident reporting and resident abuse investigations, and liaison for Hospice Care and other managed care organization.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Active role in identifying and addressing quality issues, and implementing corrective action and plan as necessary.</li> <li>Develops and maintains a good working rapport with interdepartmental personnel, as well as other Facility departments, to assure that the departmental services and activities can be properly maintained to meet the needs of residents/patients.</li> <li>Supports and maintains Nursing Services objectives and standards.</li> <li>Assist with implementing and coordinating Departmental policies, procedure and job descriptions.</li> <li>Interprets Department policies and procedures to staff, resident/patients, visitors, etc., as necessary.</li> <li>Ensures that resident/patients' rights are maintained.</li> <li>Participates in programs designed for in-service education and orientation classes for new Nursing Department hirees, as well as ongoing in-service education programs.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>BSN Required. Master's degree preferred.</li> <li>Must have a minimum of (5) years' experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or other related health facility.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>New York State Licensed Professional Nurse.</li> <li>PRI Certified.</li> <li>MDS Knowledge.</li> <li>Care Planning and Assessment knowledge.</li> <li>Knowledge of performance improvement activities and data collection.</li> </ul>
