Overview: <p><strong>**The shift for this position is Flex 1pm-9pm (hours vary) </strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Responsible for assisting the Clinical Nurse Manager in the operational effectiveness, efficiency, and day-to-day management of the assigned patient care area. Demonstrates awareness of internal and external factors impacting patient care delivery, staffing, quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, and resource utilization.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Promotes a culture of patient-centered care, teamwork, accountability, professional practice, and continuous improvement. Collaborates closely with the Clinical Nurse Manager to ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based nursing care while supporting organizational goals and nursing standards.</li> <li>Assists with staff scheduling, daily operations, patient flow, staffing assignments, quality monitoring, employee engagement, orientation, competency validation, performance improvement initiatives, and patient experience activities. Serves as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff, fostering professional growth, accountability, and excellence in nursing practice.</li> <li>Provides leadership in the absence of the Clinical Nurse Manager and participates in departmental and organizational committees, shared governance, and strategic initiatives.</li> <li>Supports recruitment, retention, onboarding, and development of nursing personnel while promoting a healthy work environment built upon respect, collaboration, diversity, equity, inclusion, and compassionate patient care. Demonstrates commitment to evidence-based practice through participation in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety activities, regulatory readiness, and professional development.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor Degree in Nursing or health related field required.</li> <li>Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Ability to read, write and communicate in English.</li> <li>Required</li> <li>4-6 years Minimum of five (5) years nursing experience, preferably in an acute care setting with at least three (1) years in a supervisory or leadership capacity preferred including charge nurse. Demonstrates sound, clinical skills, understanding of acute care standards of practice, and positive communications skills. Demonstrated participation on councils and committees. Required</li> <li>Knowledge and experience documenting patient care in an electronic medical record.</li> <li>Strong critical thinking and evidence-based clinical decision-making skills</li> <li>Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills</li> <li>Ability to make knowledgeable clinical assessments and judgments based on evidence-based guidelines</li> <li>Ability to educate and develop staff</li> <li>Ability to provide counseling and emotional support with compassion and respect for the individual</li> <li>Ability to provide support and guidance to the members of the care team (teamwork)</li> <li>Ability to foster teamwork, accountability, and employee engagement.</li> <li>Ability to effectively resolve conflict and facilitate difficult conversations.</li> <li>Ability to collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.</li> <li>Ability to identify quality and patient safety opportunities and implement improvement strategies.</li> <li>Ability to monitor staffing, patient throughput, and resource utilization</li> <li>Must possess initiative, integrity, accountability, professionalism and work independently</li> <li>Ability to maintain confidentiality of medical records and personnel files</li> <li>Ability to multitask and deliver on targets set</li> <li>Has the foresight to set workflows to achieve department goals</li> <li>Supports a culture of continuous learning, shared governance, diversity, equity, inclusion, and excellence in nursing practice.</li> <li>Registered Nurse New York - New York State Board of Nursing Current New York State licensure as a registered professional nurse.
