Service Technician/Picker

Right now, we are adding a Service Technician/Picker to our team in Kitchener. We need someone who excels at customer-facing work and is comfortable working independently, out of the store, tackling hands-on mechanical challenges. This is a dual-purpose role, as you will handle repairs and service as a Technician, but will also ensure our builders have the parts they need to assemble and build our custom equipment.

This is a dual purpose role, as you will handle repairs and service as a Technician, but will also ensure our builders have the parts they need to assemble and build our custom equipment.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>As a Picker, you will also:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Handle all loner and rental equipment.</li> <li>Properly clean all parts of our devices.&nbsp;</li> <li>Be prepared to assemble some equipment when required.</li> <li>Handle organization of all parts and equipment in our warehouse, and ensure chairs, lifts and devices are stored and kept in their appropriate place.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Who you are</strong></p> <p>You can fix mechanical issues, and you want to learn more about replacing and repairing wheelchairs, and mobility equipment. You are meticulous, organized, and can maintain a clean and well-managed work space for you and your team. You can keep a meticulous record of the parts you used and the products you handled. An empathetic listener, curious problem solver, and friendly communicator, you are willing to be on call evenings and weekends, and genuinely like to help people. Responsibilities: <p><strong>What you will do</strong></p> <p>Our clients put their trust in Motion to ensure that their mobility devices are safe and functioning correctly. Whether you are working at a client's home, in a local facility, or at our care centre, you are ready to take on the ownership of solving problems to make life accessible.</p> <ul> <li><strong><em>Diagnose and repair.</em></strong> You will quickly learn how to repair wheelchairs, and custom mobility equipment, and thrive in an independent role. This may include but is not limited to:&nbsp; <ul> <li>Creating the service order and quote in our NAV system.&nbsp;</li> <li>Assessing and troubleshooting issues clients may be having with their device.</li> <li>Repairing manual and power devices and equipment.</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <ul> <li><em><strong>Help build.</strong></em> You will help our builders with equipment assembly by laying out all of the parts they will need. You might also be required to do some assembly on your own, so technical knowledge is important for success in this role.</li> <li><em><strong>Deliver a Motion customer experience.</strong></em> Our service technicians are the face of our company, delivering outstanding customer experiences every day. Through honest, empathic, respectful, and friendly interactions with our customers, you will build trusting relationships. You will ensure that their needs are met and that we meet our objective to make life accessible.</li> <li><em><strong>Be flexible and mobile.</strong></em> You will travel to different sites and client's homes within a 70km driving distance. You will also be required to work the occasional Saturday shift.&nbsp;</li> <li><em><strong>Be a team player.</strong></em> You are going to be responsible for helping your team, and you will need to be open to the possibility of taking on new tasks and challenges. That means jumping in, rolling up your sleeves, and helping out as needed.&nbsp;</li> <li><em><strong>Organize and maintain a large warehouse space.</strong></em> Not only will you be expected to build and make repairs, you will also need assist in keeping the warehouse organized and clean. All equipment needs to be properly stored, cleaned and maintained, so it&rsquo;s ready to be assembled and sent to our customers. You will help ensure the retail space is clean, and free of equipment, so that we can better serve our in-store clients.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>What you bring</strong></p> <ul> <li><em><strong>Technical skills. </strong></em>You have previous experience in a customer service role and exposure to using diagnostic tools and completing mechanical repairs. An interest in or knowledge of mobility products is beneficial. Exposure to Navision or other ERP systems is considered an asset. An avid troubleshooter, you are innovative and efficient in your approach to solving problems.</li> <li><strong><em>Empathy and compassion.</em></strong> To provide our clients with the best Motion customer experience, we need someone empathetic to our client's needs and circumstances. You can navigate any situation in a friendly, professional, and compassionate manner. You can make anyone feel comfortable, and will work with them to understand their specific needs. Your clients will range in age, from pediatric to geriatric.&nbsp;</li> <li><em><strong>Additional must-have requirements.</strong></em> You can lift up to fifty (50) pounds to move or repair equipment and devices. You have a valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driving record; travel to client sites is occasionally required; however, you will be provided with a company vehicle for this.
