Overview: NJM is offering a unique internship opportunity for nursing students to further understand how their educational/clinical experience can be used in an insurance setting. The nursing intern will job shadow the professional nursing staff and assist with several aspects of the medical case management, utilization review and pre-certification processes. Based in our West Trenton, NJ location, the position will include exposure to Case Management, Utilization Review and Pre Certification.
Responsibilities: Job Responsibilities:<br /> <ul> <li>Case Management Review workers&rsquo; compensation claim medical records</li> <li>Participate in the development of a treatment plan</li> <li>Communicate with treating providers Request and review medical documentation</li> <li>Schedule medical appointments, attend injured worker visits and/or team conferences</li> <li>Participate in round-table discussions with Claims, Legal and Medical personnel Utilization Review &amp; Pre-Certification</li> <li>Review medical documentation to determine medical necessity and intensity of service for treatment rendered to workers&rsquo; compensation claimants</li> <li>Participate in discussions regarding authorization of care</li> <li>Communicate with treating providers via phone/fax/email to request any medical documentation needed to make treatment determination</li> <li>Assist with mail-order and first fill prescription management programs</li> </ul>
Requirements: Required Qualifications and Experience: <br /> <ul> <li>Student (currently a Junior), pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), with a 3.0 GPA or higher</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Self-directed learner with the ability to learn quickly</li> <li>Flexibility and adaptability</li> <li>Ability to work in a team environment</li> <li>Leadership aptitude Self-directed learner with the ability to learn quickly and pursue Internship with enthusiasm and focus</li> <li>Eligible to work in the United States Pass NJM pre-employment background check and drug test</li> </ul> NJM is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
