Overview: <p>The Postal Operator is responsible for operating various mails processing equipment which can entail multiple machines at one time. An awareness of job priorities, postal schedules and postage parameters is essential. This position has a 15% shift differential.</p> <p>The&nbsp;hours are flexible on 2nd (12:45pm-9pm) and 3rd&nbsp;(12am-8:15am) shifts.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Operate in a safe and efficient manner the various Postal Section equipment to assemble, process and sort the outgoing mail based on documented requirements</li> <li>Utilize learned skills on the Postal equipment to provide coverage as needed</li> <li>Coordinate an efficient workflow with coworkers and Management team</li> <li>Maintain productivity reports and quality control sheets</li> <li>Ensure that all jobs are completed timely and in order of importance as assigned.</li> <li>Return mail deemed undeliverable or damaged during processing to the proper recipient daily</li> <li>Communicate all issues and requests that may not be filled in time to meet SLA&rsquo;s to the Supervisor, P&amp;P Technical Leads and C.S. Workflow Coordinator</li> <li>Maintain a sufficient inventory of materials and supplies to minimize workflow interruptions</li> <li>Keep a neat and organized workspace</li> <li>Perform light maintenance on the equipment as needed</li> <li>Advise service support and technicians when their assistance is needed</li> <li>Troubleshoot equipment errors as needed</li> <li>Monitor outgoing mail pieces to validate correct setup, readability, format and barcodes to ensure NJM and USPS standards and requirements are met</li> <li>Conduct and document quality spot checks of the documents during assembly and processing to ensure accuracy throughout the entire job</li> <li>Complete and update appropriate reports for every production job processed on the Postal Section equipment.</li> <li>Complete postal reports in compliance with USPS regulations.</li> <li>Provide signoff on Gunther Worksheets to confirm the assembly job was set up and assembled as expected.</li> <li>Meet or exceed customer service expectations</li> <li>Transport mail cages to and from the loading dock</li> <li>Adherence to all safety standards for operation of equipment and movement of materials</li> <li>Adherence to expectations of cooperation, teamwork, flexibility, professional conduct, appearance and attendance</li> <li>Ability to assist others with work related questions</li> <li>Provide assistance to the Print Section operations</li> <li>Ability to operate the NJM van</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively (verbal and written)</li> <li>Must have organizational skills</li> <li>Must be alert and quick on feet</li> <li>Must have basic computer skills</li> <li>High School Diploma or GED</li> <li>Ability to lift/carry (materials and boxes) up to 50 pounds</li> <li>Ability to push/pull loaded carts of printed materials or rolls of paper</li> <li>Ability to perform repetitive hand movements</li> <li>Ability to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time &ndash; up to 8 hours or more per day</li> <li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment: subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity</li> <li>Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing documents, specifically for color and font size specifications</li> </ul>
