The journal is global in scope, and submission is open to all researchers worldwide.<br /><br />As a Subscription and Licensing Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in managing customer relationships, negotiating contracts, and staying abreast of the latest developments in scholarly publishing, particularly in relation to the Open Access movement. This dynamic position requires exceptional customer service skills, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in an international environment. <br /><br />Under general direction, you will apply specific professional-level functional knowledge to solve problems requiring the identification and analysis of moderately complex variables. Takes action to solve problems/issues that routinely arise in areas of assigned responsibility but may receive guidance or expertise from higher-level staff on more complex problems.<br /><br />Will work with a wide range of global internal and external stakeholders. Must foster, promote, and cultivate an environment and culture that promotes inclusion within the department and must possess a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li> <p>Oversee Salesforce CRM database management; ensure records are accurate and creates reports.</p> </li> <li> <p>Manage and maintain subscription accounts for PNAS in Atypon Literatum, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of content to individual and institutional subscribers.</p> </li> <li> <p>Build and maintain strong relationships with sales agents, institutional customers, and individual subscribers, including negotiating contracts and licenses, preparing sales agreements, and facilitating procurement processes.</p> </li> <li> <p>Serve as the secondary point of contact for complicated customer inquiries, providing excellent customer service and resolving any issues or concerns in a timely manner.</p> </li> <li> <p>Collaborate with internal teams, including Marketing and Product, to ensure seamless subscription management and address customer needs effectively.</p> </li> <li> <p>Negotiate subscription agreements, pricing, and license terms with sales agents, institutions, consortia, and other customers, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes.</p> </li> <li> <p>Review, analyze, and interpret contract terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with internal policies and legal requirements. Collaborate with Procurement and General Counsel to draft and review contracts, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and appropriate risk management.</p> </li> <li> <p>Stay informed about the latest developments in scholarly publishing, particularly in relation to the Open Access movement, transformative agreements, and licensing models.</p> </li> <li> <p>Monitor subscription metrics, analyze data, and generate reports for transformative agreement and special pricing negotiations.</p> </li> <li> <p>Collaborate with finance and billing departments to ensure accurate and timely invoicing and payment collection.</p> </li> <li> <p>Stay updated on industry trends, competitors, and market dynamics to proactively identify opportunities and challenges.</p> </li> <li> <p>Oversee subscriptions renewal cycle, including price quotations, assigning tier levels, and managing invoice requests.</p> </li> <li> <p>Develop best-practices and workflow procedures between the journal and the web platform.</p> </li> <li> <p>Help monitor and review the subscriptions web pages, ensuring the content is up-to-date and accurate.</p> </li> </ul> <br />
Requirements: <p><strong>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</strong>:&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li> <p>Proven experience in subscription management or a related role within the scholarly publishing industry is a plus.</p> </li> <li> <p>Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.</p> </li> <li> <p>Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.</p> </li> <li> <p>Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, international environment.</p> </li> <li> <p>Familiarity with contracts, licensing models, and transformative agreements in scholarly publishing.</p> </li> <li> <p>Proficiency in negotiation and contract management.</p> </li> <li> <p>Basic understanding of financial and accounting principles highly desirable.</p> </li> <li> <p>Knowledge of Open Access movement and related developments in scholarly publishing a plus.</p> </li> <li> <p>Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages are a plus).</p> </li> <li> <p>Proficient in using Salesforce CRM and other relevant software tools.</p> </li> <li> <p>Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.</p> </li> <li> <p>Experience with Atypon Literatum Platform a plus.</p> </li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Minimum Education/Training Requirements:</strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as publishing, library science, or business) or equivalent work experience.</p> <p><strong>Minimum Experience:</strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Three years of related professional experience.<br /><br /></p> <p><strong>Physical Capabilities:&nbsp;</strong>&nbsp;Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time.</p> <p><strong>Required Licenses, Certification or Registration:</strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;None.</p> <p><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls:</strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;Reports to Subscriptions and Events Manager.</p> <p><strong>Work Environment:&nbsp;</strong>Hybrid Office/Telecommute environment, expected onsite percentage 40%, with occasional travel between National Academies&rsquo; facilities and to off-site meeting/sponsor locations.</p> <p><br /><strong>Compensation Range: </strong>The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine support equity, fairness, and transparency in our compensation programs. An estimated compensation range for this position is $68,160 - $93,715. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will be based on the candidate&rsquo;s relevant knowledge, skills, and work experience, commensurate with compensation of current employees in comparable positions with similar knowledge, skills, and work experience, and subject to budget parameters.
