Overview: Requisition Number: R0002248<br /> <br /> Reviews meetings database daily for room requirements. Delivers, sets up, tests, and operates audio-visual (AV) equipment according to meeting requirements. Maintains equipment and troubleshoots equipment problems. Maintains appropriate records and inventory. Instructs users in basic operation of equipment. Provides coverage for special events. <br /><br />Applying relevant technical knowledge, performs assigned tasks, working within clearly defined standard operating procedures and adhering to quality guidelines. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and identify and resolve problems.<br /><br />
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Reviews meetings database daily and runs reports on room requirements.</li> <li>Sets up conference room technology equipment, keeping it in ready condition. Ensures equipment is functional and available.</li> <li>Troubleshoots basic problems during meetings and conferences. Troubleshoots problems with record, playback, projection, and control devices.</li> <li>Assists laptop and computer users with basic computer issues during meetings, primarily consisting of problems with projection and access to visitor-based network.</li> <li>Provides assistance and information on video conferencing. Ensures that conference calls begin and end successfully. Works with staff on use of camera during video teleconference sessions. May advise speakers and presenters on media alternatives.</li> <li>Contacts meeting planners in advance of meetings to discuss special requirements. Interacts with staff during meetings to ensure requirements are met.</li> <li>Operates the light board and audio mixer board during meetings in the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) auditorium.</li> <li>Assists with press conferences, webcasts, and other high-profile or high-support events.</li> <li>Performs routine maintenance of equipment.</li> <li>Inventories audio visual (AV) equipment and meeting supplies, as requested.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <strong>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: </strong>Knowledge of audio-visual systems, including audio, projection, recording, and videoconferencing and familiarity with electronic cables needed for each device. Basic computer knowledge. Ability to solve problems of a basic and repetitive nature. Ability to follow immediate supervisory direction and closely prescribed procedures. Ability to work successfully in a team environment. Ability to develop relationships with co-workers and employees in other National Academies&rsquo; departments. Good communication skills with a proven ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees.<br /><strong><br />Minimum Education/Training Requirements: </strong>High school diploma, GED, or equivalent knowledge.<br /><strong><br />Minimum Experience:</strong> One year of related AV experience, preferably with Crestron equipment or equivalent.<br /><br /> <p><strong>Physical Capabilities:</strong> Sets up Audio Visual equipment and tables and chairs for conference rooms and other areas.<br /><strong><br />Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: </strong>None.<br /><strong><br />Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls:</strong> Reports to Manager, Audio Visual Services. Supervisor is available to assign and review work, set priorities, address exceptions and answer operational questions.</p> <p><strong>Work Environment:&nbsp;</strong>Office environment, with occasional travel between National Academies&rsquo; facilities and to off-site meeting/sponsor locations.</p> <p><strong>Compensation Range: </strong>The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine support equity, fairness, and transparency in our compensation programs. An estimated compensation range for this position is $22.15 - $27.69 per hour. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will be based on the candidate&rsquo;s relevant knowledge, skills, and work experience, commensurate with compensation of current employees in comparable positions with similar knowledge, skills, and work experience, and subject to budget parameters.
